WWE Rumors: Is Goldberg Headed To WWE Hall of Fame?

Goldberg has been part of the WWE rumor mill for much of this year, and the reason was made clear around WrestleMania 32. Goldberg is a huge part of the WWE 2K17 video game. While many professional wrestling dirt sheets ran with the rumor that Goldberg was in talks to return for WrestleMania 32, he was just negotiating a deal for the video game.

However, the Goldberg WWE rumors are very similar to the Ultimate Warrior WWE rumors from a couple of years ago. PWinsider reported that Goldberg will now make appearances over SummerSlam weekend, and it will probably be about the WWE 2K17 video game once again. The comparisons with the Ultimate Warrior are now stronger than ever.

While neither The Ultimate Warrior nor Goldberg showed up at WrestleMania or Summerslam, they did work on the WWE licensed video game. It has put Goldberg back in the mind of the public, much like it did Ultimate Warrior. For the Warrior, it ended with him in the WWE Hall of Fame one year later.

Don’t be surprised if Goldberg is not one of the headliners for the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony next year, following the same footsteps that the Warrior did when he was enshrined one year after appearing in the video game. 2K Sports is doing a major media launch this weekend, so Goldberg will be on hand for it. That will also allow him the possible opportunity to talk to Vince McMahon or Triple H if he wants to, and WWE rumors will focus on Goldberg the entire time he is there.

It should also be noted that Sting was the focus of the video game, and he also ended up in the WWE Hall of Fame one year later as well. The difference is that Sting also wrestled for the WWE that year and ended up forced to retire after a serious back injury suffered in a match with Seth Rollins.

The WWE 2K17 video game featuring Goldberg is the third in a row that really highlights a legend. If the last two legends it focused on were enshrined into the Hall of Fame the next year, it is easy to speculate that WWE rumors will start to swirl with Goldberg Hall of Fame induction dreams.

With that said, WWE rumors will also run rampant with questions about whether Goldberg will wrestle again. In an interview earlier this year, Wrestling Inc. reported that Goldberg said he had reconsidered a return to wrestling because he wants his son to see him in the ring at least one time before he can’t go anymore.

“I know this is a very big step for me in that I’ve been away [from WWE] for a long period of time and I never really ever saw myself being involved with them again, but along came my wonderful son and [it] opened up the possibility of doing something with the WWE again and I’m grateful to be in this situation.”

So, what are the chances of the WWE rumors of Goldberg’s return coming true? That all depends on Vince McMahon, the situation that he is offered, and probably the money involved. Goldberg did admit that in five years, he won’t be able to do what he wants to do in the ring, so the time is ticking down.

However, whether Goldberg returns to the ring or not, the big WWE rumors that could realistically come true involve the Hall of Fame. Goldberg is a huge name that could really bring some more shine to the already stacked Hall of Fame.

While there are many people who deserve to be in the WWE Hall of Fame but have not made it there, Goldberg is someone who should be on everyone’s list for consideration. He was one of the biggest stars when WCW was beating the WWE in the rankings and was one of the most popular stars in professional wrestling.

Goldberg was the WCW world champion once and even held the WWE world championship when he made his surprise debut years after Vince McMahon bought out WCW. While there are still names like Diamond Dallas Page who have done more in the wrestling than Goldberg did, there is no denying that Goldberg could be Hall of Fame material.

What are your thoughts? Does Goldberg belong in the WWE Hall of Fame? Could his WWE 2K17 inclusion be a hint that he will be inducted next year? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
