Jake Gyllenhaal Rumored To Star Opposite Hugh Jackman In ‘Prisoners’

Jake Gyllenhaal, fresh off the success of his box office hit End of Watch, will reportedly star opposite X-Men alumnus Hugh Jackman in director Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Donnie Darko star has been tapped to portrayed a detective investigating a series of kidnappings. Jackman, meanwhile, will play the father who takes the law into his own hands when his daughter goes missing.

Variety reports that, in addition to Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman, The Fighter co-star Melissa Leo is also attached to the upcoming project. Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson will produce the feature, alongside 8:38 Productions’ Kira Davis and Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner. Production is currently slated towards the beginning of next year.

In addition scoring big with the surprise hit End of Watch, Jake Gyllenhaal also made his off-Broadway debut in the play If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet. If rumors are to be believed, then the Jarhead star is being considered for the role of Christian Grey in the highly-anticipated cinematic adaptation of the E.L. James “mommy porn” novel Fifty Shades of Grey. However, I would certainly take the aforementioned Grey news with a grain of salt.

“Yeah, of course! I always want to work, man, of course,” Gyllenhaal said when Ryan Seacrest broke the news to him during a recent interview. “That’s super flattering. I mean, I have not heard that, but if that’s true then that’s a nice thing. It’s always nice to be considered.”

In Hugh Jackman news, the first official photo from the upcoming Wolverine sequel has finally found its way online. Since set photos have been making the rounds left and right as of late, the studio behind the upcoming superhero flick decided to give fans what they want. From the looks of the first photo, filmmakers might be getting things right this time around.
