Seth Conrad Rich’s Family Begs Murder Conspiracy Theorists To Stop

Seth Conrad Rich was murdered just one month ago today, and since then his death has become the center of one of the biggest conspiracy theories of the 2016 election.

Among those suspicious of Seth’s death, the predominant explanation is that he was assassinated to cover up his involvement in the hack that exposed the Democratic National Committee, in turn revealing that the organization had collaborated with the Hillary Clinton campaign to defeat Bernie Sanders. Following this line of thinking, Rich is the victim of a long line of people who have fallen to Clinton interests.

These theories were inflamed when Julian Assange announced that Wikileaks, the source that eventually published the fruits of the DNC hack, would offer $20,000 to anyone with information about Seth’s murder, previously reported Inquisitr. For those who already suspected foul play, it was confirmation enough that Rich was the hacker.

Julian Assange: Whistleblowers go to significant efforts to get us material and often very significant risks. As a 27 year-old, works for the DNC, was shot in the back, murdered just a few weeks ago for unknown reasons as he was walking down the street in Washington.

Reporter: That was just a robbery, I believe. Wasn’t it?

Julian Assange: No. There’s no finding. So… I’m suggesting that our sources take risks, and they become concerned…”

Rejected by Hillary’s campaign, the theory took another blow when Seth Conrad Rich’s family came forward to ask that the media and politicians stop using their son’s tragedy as a political tool.

Speaking for Seth’s family in Business Insider, Brad Bauman chastised those who had spread conspiracy theories about his untimely death. According to Bauman, Rich’s surviving relatives are pleading with the public to avoid spreading unfounded hearsay about the incident.

“The family welcomes any and all information that could lead to the identification of the individuals responsible, and certainly welcomes contributions that could lead to new avenues of investigation… That said, some are attempting to politicize this horrible tragedy, and in their attempts to do so, are actually causing more harm than good and impeding on the ability for law enforcement to properly do their job. For the sake of finding Seth’s killer, and for the sake of giving the family the space they need at this terrible time, they are asking for the public to refrain from pushing unproven and harmful theories about [Rich]’s murder.”

WikiLeaks responded directly to the criticism of the way they and other entities have spoken about Seth’s death. The group’s official Twitter dismissed the “Rich family spokesman” for his own links to the Democratic establishment.

Outside of those related to Seth, friends have also spoken to the media about the case. Miles Mawby, a close friend of Rich who saw him just days before his death, described his friend as “one of the most dedicated people I have ever met” to the Daily Mail, implying that he would never betray the DNC by sending secrets to Wikileaks.

“Never in a million years. [People are] fanning flames of wild rumors from the internet from conspiracy theorists. It’s absolutely absurd… [That was] his day-to-day work … that got him up in the morning.”

Aside from the timing of Seth’s murder, those weary of Clinton also point to the strange circumstances of his death. Rich was found with all of his belongings on him, giving no indication that he was killed as part of a robbery. His mother, Mary, said that she found this particular detail especially painful when speaking to NBC.

“There had been a struggle. His hands were bruised, his knees are bruised, his face is bruised, and yet he had two shots to his back, and yet they never took anything.”

Police are offering $25,000 to anyone with information about the murder of Seth Conrad Rich.
