5 Reasons Why Donald Trump Is ‘Finished’

On Tuesday, Reuters/Ipsos polls were showing that Hillary Clinton had a seven-point lead on Donald Trump, a full day since he made headlines over a highly anticipated speech about the economy. The lead had only gradually widened since Hillary Clinton secured her nomination at the Democratic National Convention.

More recent polls show that the gap has slightly decreased, where for the first time since the convention, Donald Trump’s poll rating went up about two points over the last 24 hours and Clinton’s moves up by one, most likely because of the battle over the swing states.

But overall, this isn’t anything to be anxious about because the general election is pretty much through, and everyone should really start addressing former secretary of state Hillary Clinton as Madame President.

Of course, Donald Trump still has a lot to prove during the debates, but with only three months before the election, there is nothing he can do to win over the general population at this point for a variety of obvious reasons.

1. Donald Trump Continues To Double-Down On His Attacks

His attacks against the Khans has finally dissipated, mostly because he was able to distract the press with a presentation of his platform on the economy, giving people something else to talk about.

That it was followed by a second amendment threat against Hillary Clinton, however, shows that the damage is done. Just take a look at how long the back-and-forth between Donald Trump and the Khans went on for because he couldn’t end it. Two weeks without letting up?

Which only got worst because of how deliberate he was to double-down. At the same time, he received the purple heart from a veteran and remarked that it was an easier way to get one than to earn it the hard way.

On the eve of his speech on Monday, he went at it again with another tweet about CIA Director Michael Morell, which, in light of the seriousness of this election, looks like something a middle-schooler scribbled in the margins notebook.

2. He Consistently Overrides His Spokesperson

Donald Trump’s campaign manager/spokesman Paul Manafort reportedly spent a decade working for a seriously corrupt supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Ukraine who was internationally recognized as corrupt, which is just the kind of hardcore training Donald Trump needs to hedge his bets on when trying to handle his own public relations.

It’s been over a month since Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was let go, and while he’s at now at CNN tainting the news cycle with Donald Trump’s talking points, Manafort has had a chance to what Russian propagandists do best and manage the campaign’s message. The problem is that Donald Trump continues to take the role of being his own spokesman and ruins everything, forcing Paul Manafort to work even harder to put out whatever fires Donald Trump sets by denying there are any fires at all.

3. His Teleprompter Speeches Are Already The Worst

It’s not bad enough that he repeats the same lines over and over again when he’s trying to convince people of his platform, such as “believe me” and “It’s going to be great,” or that he rants about various things and doesn’t stay on point. Even worse is when he reads his speeches from teleprompters and settles for a structured monotone that is completely alien from how he’s been speaking daily.

The familiarity of that tone we’ve gotten used to is gone and for anyone to think that it’s a smooth transition clearly isn’t paying attention and are not enough to gain him more supporters. So far, he’s done four of these, and this last one over the economy proves that these are some of the worst speeches in the history of any presidency, much less of any grade-school speech class.

They’re even worse when he goes off-script, adding phrases such as “believe me” around it as if he needs to convince anyone anymore. And what it shows is that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about and that he’s getting his ears filled with others in his team who are likely also scrambling to wing it. Unless voters are willing to put the nation in those kinds of hands, no one is seriously going to vote for that.

4. His Publicity Stunts Get Him The Wrong Kind Of Attention

With three months left until November, there’s no way that Donald Trump is going to be able to turn things around. It seems unlikely that the majority of Americans are going to side with him to tip the scale in his favor.

This is why the mega-bombs he drops with every tweet or dumb thing he does are a great way to measure whether the polls are accurate and consistent.

His supporters have already determined that they’re going to support him no matter what, and they have no qualms about what he says or does. Donald Trump’s supporters come from the bombs he’s been dropping, made up of people who are willing to sabotage the system, which means there are simply not as many Americans out there who want to give Donald Trump the chance.

Meanwhile, everyone else isn’t getting the information they need regarding how Donald Trump is going to “fix” things for them.

5. His Party Has Turned Against Him

The Republican leadership is experiencing frequent bouts of high anxiety every time they realize what they’re stuck with. Many have already pointed out the endless missed opportunities he could have attacked Hillary Clinton rather than settling for fighting it out with people such as the Khans.

Donald Trump’s Second Amendment statement is not the kind of attack he should be launching against the candidate, which has already prompted the party to consider packing it in and try to focus on saving their seats in the House and Senate instead, according to a story about his meltdown by Time.

All the reporting and the reaction from the party is that they’ve turned against each other over the last several years, and the results of a Donald Trump candidacy are proof of that. The issue now is if America is ready to give the White House to someone who only gets the support of far-right nationalists who are willing to destroy everything in order to rebuild. The fact is that there are simply not enough Donald Trump supporters to make him the next president.
