Fitzgerald set to rework contract

Arizona Cardinals Wide Receiver Larry Fitzgerald has one thing on his mind, and that seems to be getting his team back to the Super Bowl this time with a different out come. Fitzgerald is a gifted athlete, and a suburb NFL player and today he became a shining example of what a team leader should be. Today Fitzgerald stepped out of merely being a phenomenal NFL player, today Fitzgerald became a great man.

I say all of that because word has come down that Fitzgerald has reworked his deal with the Cardinals to allow the team more flexibility under the cap. Most likely this is a move by Fitzgerald to give the Cardinals enough cap space to get a new deal done for fellow wide out Anquan Boldin.

While Fitzgerald was set to made a little north of 17 million dollars in 2008, Boldin made just north of 2.5 million. While it is clear Fitzgerald is the better receiver the margin from him to Boldin is not that wide. the Cardinals need both of these men to produce if they hope to return to the Super Bowl in 2009.

Fitzgerald gave back what he could, he has reworked some of the incentive clauses in his contract that if reached would have counted against the Cap in this year. Under the new agreement those incentives will be passed count against the cap in future years.
