Malia Obama Pot Smoking Video: Footage Appears To Show First Daughter Holding A Joint At Lollapalooza

A Malia Obama video is causing a stir after footage circulated online reportedly showing the First Daughter smoking pot at a concert.

The video was first posted by Radar Online, showing Malia smoking what appeared to be a joint during her visit to the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago last month. While it’s not clear from the video if Malia is actually smoking pot or just a normal cigarette, a witness told the news outlet that it definitely appeared to be marijuana.

“I caught Malia smoking pot and I have the pictures to prove it,” said 18-year-old Jerrdin Selwyn, who said she saw Malia holding the joint during a Bryson Tiller set. “You could smell the marijuana smoke.”

The video made the rounds on Wednesday and got plenty of attention on news sites, but the overall reaction from readers didn’t include much outrage. Many noted that there is nothing much to a story about an 18-year-old high school graduate partying and possibly smoking marijuana, especially when it’s becoming increasingly acceptable and legalized in a number of states.

This is not the first time Malia Obama has caused a stir with her visit to Lollapalooza late last month. When the pictures of Malia at the festival first surfaced, many noted that the 18-year-old high school graduate chose to party in Chicago rather than travel to Philadelphia to watch her father speak at the Democratic National Convention.

The trip to Lollapalooza came just a few weeks after another reportedly wild incident for Malia Obama. During a trip to Europe, she was spotted with some friends at a club in Amsterdam, where she reportedly drank and danced until after 3 a.m.

Radar Online published video of her night out, which came via a news outlet from the Netherlands called Show.nl. The celebrity news outlet also talked to a witness who said Malia appeared to be enjoying herself at the nightclub.

“She’s a superb dancer, much like her father,” said DJ Youri Roest. “She was very flexible, she has good hips.”

“She’s a very cute girl and she was flirting heavily,” he added. “But then I got too drunk and had to perform somewhere else. So I guess I kind of forgot about her, which I feel very sorry about right now.”

And last year, while Malia was taking a tour of the Ivy League Brown University, she was photographed at a party standing next to a beer pong table. The Daily Caller published a Snapchat photo from that night, where other partygoers said Malia was having a good time.

“Malia obama was taking shots and playing beer pong at a party last night LOL,” one person tweeted (via Buzzfeed).

But even amid her partying, Malia Obama remains a studious young woman who appears to be dedicated to public service. Her trip to Amsterdam was actually part of an effort to promote the White House initiative called Let Girls Learn, which aims to break down barriers for girls to attend school. The site for the initiative noted the importance of the work.

“To educate a girl is to build a healthier family, a stronger community, and a brighter future. Unfortunately today, more than 62 million girls around the world are not in school—half of whom are adolescents. We know that countries with more girls in secondary school tend to have lower maternal mortality rates, lower infant mortality rates, lower rates of HIV/AIDS, and better child nutrition.”

If the video circulating this week really does show Malia Obama smoking pot, there’s not a lot authorities will be doing about it. Illinois recently decriminalized marijuana, with Governor Bruce Rauner signing a bill that removes penalties for people found with 10 grams of marijuana or less.
