Text Chat Comes To ‘The Elder Scrolls Online’ On PlayStation 4, Xbox One With Update 11

In a few days, heroes across Tamriel on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be able to customize their characters with The Style Parlor or pick up the latest DLC to experience new dungeons. Update 11’s release on console ushers in the new appearance options and the “Shadows of the Hist” DLC, and it will also introduce new features to the systems. Text chat is finally coming to The Elder Scrolls Online for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with update 11.

After update 11 releases on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, players will find a new option available in the Social section of their menu. By default text chat is off, but players can direct to the Social section of their interface to turn on text chat, change the text size, engage the profanity filter, and more. Players with a keyboard connected to their console can simply press “enter” to reveal the chat window and start talking to other players according to the official site.

“You will be able to use text chat and voice chat simultaneously; keep in mind messages sent through text chat aren’t always proximity-based, and their reach depends on the channel you’re typing in.”

In addition to text chat, players on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can expect The Style Parlor and the “Shadows of the Hist” DLC on August 16. With update 11, console players can find The Style Parlor section within the Crown Store. This new area of the store includes new customization options for the many races of Tamriel. Players can pick up new hairstyles, adornments, or markings from the store.

These features are added to a player’s Collections interface after purchase, letting a character switch to or from the style at any time as reported by the Inquisitr. There will even be a bundle of all existing character creation hairstyles purchasable for 1,000 Crowns. This will let all characters on an account change their hairstyles to one of the styles available during character creation at any time.

A number of other services will also be available to console players of The Elder Scrolls Online after update 11 launches. The Crown Store will also house an Appearance Change Token, a Race Change Token, and a Name Change Token after the update. These services are one-time-use purchases and cost 1,000 Crowns, 3,000 Crowns, and 2,500 Crowns respectively.

Once update 11 and the “Shadows of the Hist” DLC are released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, players of The Elder Scrolls Online have even more changes and features to anticipate. One Tamriel is scheduled to release this fall, opening up the game by battle leveling all areas. Players of all levels and factions can play together in player versus environment content without restriction after One Tamriel is released, according to the Bethesda website.

“Starting this fall, all content barriers will be removed and you’ll be able to experience everything Tamriel has to offer, no matter what level you are, making it the perfect time to begin your journey (or maybe start fresh with a totally new character). Even if you’re a complete beginner, you can quest with your veteran friends and the world will adjust.”

It is likely that the release of One Tamriel will closely coincide with the release of The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Edition. The new physical release of the game includes the first four major DLCs, the base game, a mount, and 500 Crowns for use in the Crown Store for $60. This edition of The Elder Scrolls Online is set to release on September 9, but there is no firm release date for the features of One Tamriel at this time.
