Want New Royal Wheels? Kate Middleton And Prince William’s Range Rover Can Be Yours!

Range Rovers seem to be the vehicles of choice for the royal family of Britain. Queen Elizabeth purchased her first Land Rover, which is the Range Rover’s parent brand, back in the early 1950s and has continued as a customer of the brand ever since.

This tradition of the automobile sort has been passed along to her grandchildren, including Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton. It has just been made known, however, that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are putting their wheels up for auction on CharityStars. Business Insider shares the details about this news that may have royal fans and car enthusiasts pushing the bidding to a small fortune.

“The vehicle was originally supplied to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge via Land Rover’s VIP Department, fitted with many additional features, and used by the Royal Household. The sought after car is the one that the eyes of the world watched as William and Catherine carried their first born son and heir to the throne, His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge home from hospital for the first time.”

A brand new Range Rover of the same make and model as the Duke and Duchess’ goes for roughly $96,000. As the publication notes, the Range Rover is famous for being rugged and having great capabilities for hauling. Will and Kate’s reportedly only has 31, 000 miles on it, and the vehicle has 334-horsepower.

As Hello! Magazine shares, the auction will be held online at charitystars.com/royalrangerover. The site sells exclusive items and most recently auctioned off the shirt that Andy Murray wore when he won the Wimbledon tournament. The shirt earned a staggering £10,000 for Malaria No More UK. By Monday, a total of eight bids had already been made on the Duke and Duchess’ Range Rover, with the highest sitting at nearly £50,000.

In addition to the aforementioned press release, the charity site gave a separate description of the royal vehicle and the importance of it.

“The historic association of having served two future Kings and a future Queen is making this vehicle one of the most sought after in the history of Royal vehicles. It has attracted significant global interest from families expecting their first-born child, as new parents will not only be able to enjoy the luxury and prestige of the car itself, but in being a part of the royal couple’s historic story, during their ‘once in a life-time opportunity” to drive their baby home from hospital.'”

Charity Stars’ managing director Robert Robinson also shared a statement about the excitement they all feel at the organization over the fact that Kate Middleton and Prince William have selected them to host the auction for the Range Rover, stating that they are “delighted.” Robinson also spoke about the success the initiative has experienced.

“Here at CharityStars.com we have now raised over £2.5 million net for a wide variety of charities and we look forward to seeing that grow and grow.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have selected two very important charities to which they will donate the amount that results from the auction. Those charities include Stand Down, which is a military mental health charity that provides online counseling along with support for those in the armed forces community. The second charity is Sun Screen IT, which provides IT equipment to schools, hospitals, and orphanages in developing countries.

Kate and William have long been advocates for a number of charities, including those which assist individuals with mental health, as well as those that support underprivileged children. The Duke and Duchess along with Prince Harry have also been involved with the #Headstogether campaign, an initiative that seeks to erase any negative stigma surrounding mental illness.
