WWE News: Significant Backstage Concern About Paige’s Future in WWE

In three years, Paige has accomplished so much during her time with WWE. Paige was the first NXT Women’s Champion in the brand’s history, and her feud with Emma is considered by most WWE fans to be the catalyst for the women’s movement that has taken place within WWE over the past few years to incredible results.

Not only that, but Paige is a two-time WWE Divas Champion, which includes dethroning AJ Lee from what was the longest WWE Divas title run in WWE history at the time during her debut on the main roster. She was Rolling Stone’s Diva of the Year and the top-ranked female wrestler in the world for Pro Wrestling Illustrated in 2014.

The astounding thing about Paige is she’ll be turning twenty-four next week. It’s not out of the question that she could be with WWE a decade from now, still competing in the ring. Paige is a pivotal member of WWE’s Women’s division and its future, but you wouldn’t guess that based on her booking on WWE programming over the last significant stretch of time.

At WWE Summerslam 2014, Paige defeated AJ Lee to become the WWE Divas Champion for the second time. Believe it or not, that was the last time Paige won a singles match during a WWE PPV. She’s been a part of tag team matches and won matches, but Paige hasn’t been booked to win a singles match at a major event since WWE SummerSlam two years ago.

After learning that fact, it’s understandable for Paige to be disgruntled with her position and be unhappy with how her character has been booked on WWE programming over the past few years. In fact, it is a testament to Paige that she’s been able to have a decent amount of momentum going after being booked like that by WWE. However, she has been reportedly upset for more than just her booking recently. Most of what has been reported about Paige recently doesn’t have to do with the ring.

She is currently dating fellow WWE Superstar Alberto Del Rio, but that relationship could be causing some backstage issues for both competitors. The couple was said to be upset with being drafted to different brands, which was revealed to be a decision WWE officials may have done purposefully. All of these issues may cause Del Rio to leave the company this fall, but Paige is expected to be sticking around for the next decade. Unfortunately, WWE officials are very concerned about her future in WWE.

According to a report from Daily Wrestling News, all the behind the scenes issues are working against her when it comes to being on and being featured strongly on WWE television. There is a strong likelihood that Paige has heat with WWE officials backstage and some key insiders within the company are wondering about her status with WWE for the future.

As a performer, there is a lot of potential with Paige to become the most accomplished women’s wrestler in WWE history. There are creative storylines that could even see her in a match with Stephanie McMahon in the future, but none of that is going to happen if issues continue to be a factor behind the scenes during her WWE career.

Currently, Paige is dealing with neck and back injuries, according to Ring Side News. She’s most likely going to be absent for WWE Summerslam, but her return to WWE programming and the backstage politics of WWE could be a fresh start for her to get back into the good graces of the powers that be, so she can become a much bigger part of Raw when she returns to action.
