Ian Somerhalder Doesn’t Want To Reunite With Nina Dobrev? Reason Why Revealed By ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Star

As The Vampire Diaries enters its final season, “Delena” fans are anxious to see if Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev’s characters will reunite. Most of the reports surrounding these two celebrities have been focusing on Nikki Reed not wanting the TVD stars to meet again on set. This time, the man himself has spoken about how he feels about the subject.

Executive producer Julie Plec is doing everything she can to bring Nina Dobrev back one last time. Even though the actress did make an “emotional promise” to return before the show ended, her career is taking off. The woman who played Elena Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries has booked television shows and even landed some movie roles. Some wonder if the 27-year-old may be too busy to return to The CW supernatural series. However, if a promise was made, Dobrev will probably do her best to honor it.

Whether Nina returns to TVD or not, Delena fans are counting on a happy ending. However, some of the cast members recently stated that their characters shouldn’t exit the show the way viewers want. One actor in particular, Ian Somerhalder, said he would prefer Damon and Elena not ride off into the sunset together. Despite what is being reported by the tabloids on a daily basis, it has nothing to do with his personal feelings for Dobrev.

Collider reported how Ian would like The Vampire Diaries to end. Unfortunately, not the way Delena fans envisioned and certainly not with the two living happily ever after.

“Happy endings don’t happen in Mystic Falls,” Somerhalder said regarding Damon and Elena. “The happy ending I could see is that this girl gets to live her life, never even knowing these two brothers exist. Paul [Wesley] and I think the Salvatore brothers should go to some beautiful island in the Caribbean and, in their Speedos, sit on the beach all night, looking up at the moon and bonding like brothers, drinking 60-year-old Barbados rum. And when the sun comes up, they should have their final toast, give each other a hug, throw their rings into the sea, and [turn to dust]. That’s a happy ending. They’re in a great place with great lives.”

There were reports that Ian’s wife, Nikki, didn’t want him reuniting with Nina Dobrev on The Vampire Diaries. Her true feelings will never be known to the public. However, on social media, it seems like she doesn’t have a care in the world, as the Inquisitr previously reported. A few weeks ago, Nikki Reed went to dinner with Somerhalder and the cast of TVD. One fan on Facebook suggested Nikki wanted to supervise her husband on set. The comment, posted in a group for fans of The Vampire Diaries has since been deleted, but the individual was referring to Julie Plec’s Instagram photos of having dinner with the cast and crew. Reed posed with Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie Bennet on the television show. However, she wasn’t the only partner at the dinner. Paul Wesley, the actor portraying Stefan Salvatore, brought his girlfriend, Phoebe Tonkin.

TVD Season 8 will be bringing back a lot of old characters. In an interview with TV Line, Julie Plec said they would be saying hello to some people and goodbye to others. Fans have to wonder how this will work with Elena Gilbert being under a 60-year sleeping curse that is tied to Bonnie’s life. As viewers know, if Damon’s girlfriend wakes up, then Bonnie is dead. Likewise, if Bonnie dies on The Vampire Diaries, then Elena will open her eyes. Will the season end with a flash forward of 60 years so fans can see Dobrev’s character wake up and have Bonnie live a full life? Viewers will just have to wait to find out.
