The movie League Of Their Own celebrated the short-lived all women’s baseball league. The movie starred big names like Tom Hanks, Madonna, Rosie O’Donnell, and Geena Davis and was based off of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

Several women who played in the ground breaking league, who are all now in their 70s and 80s, traveled to Cooperstown today for an exhibition softball game.

The complete roster isn’t available but, according to Syracuse.com, former league players like Catherine “Katie” Horstman and Jeneane Lesko will be on the field. Maybelle Blair, now 85, will be the team’s manager.

The game will also include a few of the actresses from the movie. Megan Cavanagh and Patti Pelton, who played Marla Hooch and Marbleann Wilkenson, will also be at the game.

The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League was formed during World War II when several major league players were called overseas to fight. The league was disbanded in the 1950s.
