Honey Boo Boo’s Dad, Sugar Bear, May Lose His Leg After ATV Accident
Honey Boo Boo’s dad, the aptly-nicknamed Sugar Bear, is reportedly at risk of losing his leg after his involvement in an ATV accident several days ago.
Honey Boo Boo and family (of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo of TLC fame) rushed to Sugar Bear’s side after he was involved in a (mud boggin’) ATV accident about a week ago. Sugar Bear is currently laid up in the hospital from his injuries, and, according to the most recent reports, he may lose one of his legs.
Perez reports that Sugar Bear has already had surgery to remove the infected tissue from the injuries he sustained in the ATV accident, and now Honey Boo Boo and family are waiting patiently to find out whether or not he’ll get to keep his leg. Sources say that there’s a pretty good chance that he won’t lose it, but you never know.
If he heals up from the surgery and doesn’t lose his leg, Sugar Bear will make a full recovery and return to work in four weeks.
What with Sugar Bear’s ATV accident injuries, TLC should probably grant the family’s request for a raise heading into season two to help cover his medical bills. The Honey Boo Boo family asked for $10,000 per episode, but they’re most likely to get around $8,000, according to Enstarz. Whatever the Shannon-Thompson clan ends up pulling in, it’s going to at least double their current rate of $4,000 an episode.

Infected tissue means the infection came from the mud not the injuries and is probably MRSA. The guy was riding like he was the Supercross Champion and for that fantasy he probably will lose his leg. Go Team Honey Boo Boo.

Had never watched this show until last night and saw what IDIOTS they were on their ATVs! Was appauled at how irresponsible they were, no helmets, no gear and riding one legged, on the front, off the side, popping wheelies! We are a family of off-road riders and this reeked with stupidity! The next move they will make is to sue the ATV manufacturer! I hate to see someone hurt but REALLY? Saw this coming a mile away! May this be a lesson to all the other dumb asses out there!

Love, love, love this family! They may not be what everyone else envisions in society as far as how family is supposed to look and act, but they have more love for each other, patience and humor, that the rest of us could stand up and take a few lessons! I was in shock when I watched the first episode at how this family lacked manners. But, I have to say now that I really enjoy them. The love that they have for each other is admirable. TLC has a hit show and they should pay this family more money. I think TLC should also cover all the pageant expenses, even lessons for Alana. I am praying for you Sugar Bear, may you heal quickly.

I watched the episode (out of curiosity)when the accident happened. Dad wanted to show off his "skill" of driving the ATV, and I was thinking that's so dangerous, and stupid. It's sad to know that his injury was that severe but at the same time I think he brought it to himsellf, what kind of example that he wanted to set for the kids. BTW, Boo Boo is cute. Love the kid.
