First Look At Anthony Hopkins As Hitchcock

The Oscar race is on! Just in time for the swell of the season Fox Searchlight has released exclusive photos of Anthony Hopkins as director Alfred Hitchcock. If his appearance is any indication of his performance, it looks like Hopkins is giving Daniel Day-Lewis and Joaquin Phoenix a run for their money in the “Best Actor” category.

When it it was announced that Hopkins would be playing the highly regarded director Hitchcock there were skeptics out there who weren’t convinced that the The Silence of the Lambs star could pull it off, considering the vast physical differences between the two men. However, the picture released will surely put those naysayers to rest as Sir Anthony Hopkins is shown looking completely unrecognizable as the Psycho director. People are already comparing his unbelievable transformation to that of Daniel Day-Lewis’ turn in Lincoln.

Hitchcock, which was first announced as Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho, is said to be a comedy based on biographical facts surrounding the shooting and behind the scenes of the film Psycho, which garnered Hitchcock huge acclaim as a director. The film is also said to be focusing on Hitchcock’s relationship with his wife Alma Reville, played by Helen Mirren. Also starring is Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, and James D’Arcy as Anthony Perkins.

You can see Anthony Hopkins’ unbelievable transformation as Alfred Hitchcock when it opens in theaters on November 23, 2012. Looks like Fox Searchlight really has their sights on an Oscar.
