‘Outlander’ Season 3 Spoilers: Sam Heughan Gets A Special Kiss

Let’s start out with what we know so far: as confirmed on Twitter by none other than Sam Heughan himself (best known as James “Jaime” Fraser on the show), the gang is back in Scotland shooting Season 3. And Sam confirmed this rumor via a conversation on the social media site with — of all people — William Shatner, better known as the “original flavor” Captain Kirk on the original Star Trek TV series, and a well-known Outlander fan. Only in Hollywood!

For those fans who were eagerly anticipating the imminent reunion of James “Jaime” Fraser and his wife, Claire Fraser, GameNGuide can confirm the fan favorite of all the Outlander Season 3 spoilers: yes, there will be a Fraser reunion! Unfortunately, however, before we get to that point, we’re going to see Jaime experience life without his beloved Sassenach, and get used to life without her as well. This will make Outlander Season 3 a very different show from the seasons past. However, Heughan also mentioned to the outlet that he would be most anxious to reunite with his co-star and good friend Caitriona Balfe, meaning that a reunion is imminent.

And, according to CinemaBlend, this reunion of the happy couple is going to take place in Jamaica! Yes, it looks like Outlander Season 3 will be closely following the events of Voyager, which is the third book in the Outlander series on which the television series is based. The outlet has also confirmed that Jaime and Claire will be reuniting in Jaime’s own time — the late 1700s — after it was confirmed during the Season 2 finale that he did not, in fact, die at the Battle of Culloden.

Speaking of Outlander Season 3 spoilers, fans of the book are in for a special treat as a new character is introduced: Lord John Grey. TVLine has confirmed that actor Oscar Kennedy is set to play the foppish British lord, who will play an integral part in the series going forward, especially as it concerns Jaime’s new child. Yes, fans of the show will be heartbroken to know that Jaime will have another child out there, and the mother of the child isn’t Claire (and it isn’t Laoghaire, pronounced “Leery,” played by newcomer Nell Hudson, so rest easy)! If the books are any indication, Heughan and Kennedy will be sharing a very special kiss this upcoming season, especially as it involves keeping the true paternity of Jaime’s child hidden.

Finally, we can confirm some additional Outlander Season 3 spoilers that were spilled by the rest of the cast:

• Nell Hudson has confirmed that we’ll be seeing Jaime and Laoghaire together, at some point, in the new season, but it’s unclear as to whether their marriage will be happy or sad.
• Tobias Menzies, who plays the dual roles of Frank & Captain Black Jack Randall — for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor — confirmed that we will be seeing the disintegration of Frank and Claire’s marriage. In the Season 2 finale, Dragonfly in Amber, Brianna — played by Sophie Skelton — hinted that her parents’ marriage wasn’t a happy one, especially in its later years. Of course, Brianna also found out that her real father was a Scottish Highlander warrior from the 1700s, and not a kindly Harvard professor from the 1940s, so that certainly had a lot to do with the marriage falling apart.
• Caitriona Balfe confirmed that we’ll be seeing a very different Claire — and a very different Jaime — this season. After all, she says, 20 years have passed since the couple last saw each other, so will they be able to fall in love all over again?
