Lauren Conrad Returns For The ‘Hills’ Special, Recalls Embarrassing Moment With Brody Jenner

Lauren Conrad is returning to The Hills tonight for a special 10th-anniversary airing.

Following a mega-marathon of past episodes on Tuesday, the author and designer will share her reality television story with viewers. But first, she’s opening up about her time on the show and her struggles to watch the old episodes of the MTV series.

“I get so embarrassed for myself,” Lauren Conrad admitted to People Magazine on August 1. “We were so unfiltered and I think that’s what made the show. We were honest, and we just didn’t know any better. I said some of the stupidest stuff!”

In 2004, Lauren Conrad began starring in Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which followed her and several others, including Kristin Cavallari, Stephen Colletti, Lo Bosworth, and Talan Torriero, through the ups and downs of high school and all the drama that came with it. Years later, Lauren Conrad was awarded her own spinoff, The Hills, which continued to follow her as she traveled to Los Angeles to embark on a career in the world of fashion.

Throughout her time on The Hills, Lauren Conrad was seen enduring the rigorous challenges of working at Teen Vogue as she attempted to balance her personal life with friends Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, and Whitney Port. Lauren Conrad’s love life, including her relationships with Jason Wahler and Brody Jenner, were also seen on the show.

“One that was really hard to watch was my first on-camera kiss with Brody [Jenner],” Lauren Conrad continued. “The producers were like, we know you’ve kissed off camera, we need to see it on camera. I agreed to it, but it was just so uncomfortable. I wanted to die. I still get idiot shivers when I watch it.”

In 2009, Lauren Conrad left the show, and during The Hills’ sixth season, Kristin Cavallari took over her role as narrator.

“I stayed as long as I could,” Lauren Conrad explained. “I had a lot of pushback, but it was the right time for me. I don’t have any regrets about that.”

And when it comes to regrets, Lauren Conrad says she has none.

“The hard times make you appreciate things later on,” she said. “It was necessary for me to go through everything I did.”

Currently, Lauren Conrad is living in Los Angeles with her attorney husband William Tell, whom she wed in 2014, and staying busy with her clothing brands, a lifestyle website and a fair trade marketplace, The Little Market.

“I definitely hoped I’d get to this place, but I don’t think I ever imagined it for myself,” Lauren Conrad said. “I just feel so very lucky.”

Although Lauren Conrad shared news of her return to MTV on her blog, she has stayed pretty quiet about the upcoming special on Twitter and Instagram. Instead, she continues to promote her website and share several cute photos of her dogs online.

Following her initial post about the special weeks ago, Lauren Conrad returned to her official website, where she expressed her excitement in tonight’s upcoming airing.

“A few weeks ago, I made the announcement about my upcoming 10th anniversary special for The Hills. Well, today is the day we’ve all been waiting for… The Hills: That Was Then, This is Now is premiering tonight at 6 p.m. PST/9 p.m. EST on MTV,” Lauren Conrad wrote in a blog post on August 2. “Get ready for a serious trip down memory lane.”
