‘Bachelor In Paradise’ 2016’s Brandon Andreen Does Jail Time Before Filming ‘Paradise,’ See His Explosive Legal History

Former Bachelorette contestant Brandon Andreen is one of 30 singles who will appear on the Bachelor in Paradise Season 3 this summer. Although fans may not remember Brandon from Des Hartsock’s season, they will get to know him when he arrives in Paradise on Episode 2 on August 8.

However, it’s not the drama that happens in Paradise that will have fans talking. According to records from the Minnesota Judicial Branch (documents below), Brandon recently served eight days of jail time in the Dakota County Jail, a three-week home confinement sentence, and is currently serving three years of probation after being charged with his second DUI in January 2016.

Even more interesting? This not Andreen’s first brush with the law. In addition to two DUIs, he has several other convictions, including a felony in Wisconsin.

During his time on Des Hartsock’s season of the Bachelorette in 2013, Radar Online revealed that the Minnesota native was charged with a felony in 2005 after he called a General Motors plant in Wisconsin and “identified himself as an FBI agent,” telling a worker that there was “a briefcase with a ‘highly explosive device’ in an elevator shaft.”

Radar reports that Andreen “struck a plea bargain” and the felony was reduced to a misdemeanor with a $1,000 fine attached.

As far as the DUI goes, the Minnesota Judicial Branch court records indicate that Brandon is under three years of supervised probation that ends in January 2019. One of the stipulations requires no alcohol-related offenses, something that could be an issue on Bachelor in Paradise considering the drinks are flowing throughout the season.

Brandon’s legal issues weren’t part of the conversations he had with Desiree Hartsock during his time on the Bachelorette, but he did bring up some family issues that point to some abandonment issues.

According to Bustle, Brandon told Desiree that his mother had a “string of boyfriends” who were “nice to him one second and gone the next.” He then told Desiree that he was in love with her after one date, something that “freaked her out a bit.”

“Keep in mind this is episode three, so Brandon has spent maybe all of 16 total minutes with her. The L-word freaked Des out a bit and she sent him packing. Brandon saw this as another person who won’t love him and exits with the words “Once again someone left me.”

Seven ladies will be in Paradise when Brandon arrives — twins Emily and Haley Ferguson, Lace Morris, Amanda Stanton, Sarah Herron, Carly Waddell, and Izzy Goodkind — but many of them will already have made connections on the first episode.

Spoilers indicate that Brandon’s time on the show is brief — he is eliminated, along with Christian Bishop, after appearing on only one episode of Bachelor in Paradise.

Watch the Bachelor in Paradise Season 3 premiere at 8 p.m. ET on August 2. ABC’s reality series will move to a two-night format the week Brandon Andreen arrives (August 8).

The remaining episodes after the premiere will air on Monday nights from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET, followed by a one-hour episode that includes the weekly rose ceremony eliminations on Tuesday nights from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The live After Paradise talk show, hosted by Chris Harrison, also returns season and will air on Tuesday nights from 9–10 p.m. ET.
