‘Pretty Little Liars’ Star Troian Bellisario Sets The Record Straight Over Taylor Swift Comments

It seems everyone is becoming embroiled in the battle between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian. Now, Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario has been caught up in the drama, even more so than she would have liked. Responding to an interview question about the rivalry between Swift and Kardashian has led Troian to become entangled in an incident she would have preferred to have avoided altogether. Now, the Pretty Little Liars star comes forward again to clarify her earlier remarks and to step back away from the drama.

Pretty Little Liars Star Troian Bellisario Was Faced With An Impossible Choice

Everything started when Troian visited a DNC panel where the big questions revolved around pop culture as much as political hot buttons, reveals E! News. At the event, Ms. Bellisario was cornered with the question of who she would side with in the battle between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian, and she immediately responded by sharing her disdain for both celebrities. Unfortunately, the issue wasn’t dropped so easily and Troian was pressured to choose one side or the other.

“Oh god, I have such an aversion to the Kardashians because I literally don’t understand people’s obsession with them and I don’t want to accept them as our closest thing to a royal family, so I guess I would be Team Taylor Swift,” responded Bellisario.

That could have been the end of it, but even that answer didn’t sit well with the Pretty Little Liars star, and she offered further commentary on the question. Thinking about Taylor Swift, Troian felt compelled to share her opinion of the pop star, just to make it clear that she sided with Swift only because there was no good choice.

“However, I’m so appalled by what I consider to be her false feminism. It seems like she’s this person who’s like, ‘Sisterhood!’ and then she does nothing but tear down the women that were once her friends,” Bellisario shared.

Troian Bellisario Opens Up About Her Taylor Swift/Kim Kardashian Remarks

Making an impossible choice is something every American is faced with as politicians vie for our votes and, while the choice between Taylor and Kim may seem less trivial, Ms. Bellisario still feels compelled to straighten out her thoughts on the topic. Hoping to avoid further involvement in the ongoing saga, Troian told Entertainment Tonight that the entire question was perplexing because siding with either celebrity seemed to leave her with a sour taste.

“First of all, I was asked between the Kardashians and Taylor Swift who I would choose and I basically… because I was at the Democratic National Convention, I was like, ‘Can I vote Green Party on this?’ Because I am not on either side,” Bellisario explains. “I’m not taking sides. I’m not Kardashian, I’m not Swift.”

Troian went on to explain that she’s not familiar with anything either celebrity does because she doesn’t like what she has seen of them in the media. Troian adds that she wasn’t aware of the original conflict, and she also wasn’t aware that her own comments had stirred such a backlash. It wasn’t until Bellisario’s future mother-in-law had brought the uproar to her attention that she realized she had better clarify her thoughts.

“All of a sudden… I think my fiance’s mom texted me and was like, ‘What’s your problem with Taylor Swift?’ And I was like, ‘What happened? Are you OK?’ I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then I started seeing all these fans were like, ‘What do you have against Taylor? blah blah,'” explains Ms. Bellisario. “And I looked at the headlines and out of this entire political interview that I did, that was the one line that they took and I was like…’How?'”
