James Gandolfini could soon be back on HBO. The premium cable network has ordered a pilot, Criminal Justice, which will feature the former star of The Sopranos.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Criminal Justice will be an adaptation of the 2008 BBC drama. The BBC show only lasted two seasons but won BAFTA Awards for best drama and best writer.

Gandolfini isn’t the only big named attached to the new pilot. Steven Zaillian, who wrote Schindler’s List, will co-write the screenplay for the pilot with Richard Price, the writer behind The Color of Money. Zaillian will also be directing the new pilot.

TV Guide reports that the Sopranos star will play Jack Stone, a down-and-out attorney tasked with defending a Pakistani-American man named Naz who has been accused of murder. Rizwan Ahmed will play Naz in the pilot. The show will also star Bill Camp, Peyman Moadi, and Poorna Jagannathan.

HBO plans on shooting the pilot this fall in New York.

The Sopranos ended in 2007, but Gandolfini has maintained a close relationship with the network. He starred in the HBO movie Cinema Verite and was an executive producer for Hemingway & Gellhorn.
