Original ‘Teen Mom’ Cast Reuniting For MTV Specials


The original cast members of the MTV hit reality TV show Teen Mom are returning to the network that made them semi-famous. Executives at MTV announced on Thursday that the full cast would return for two specials that will air in October.

The show which chronicled the girls from their teens into their early 20’s will broadcast a one hour special titled Teen Mom Farewell Special and a half-hour special called Teen Mom: Ask the Moms.

The Teen Mom Farewell Special will air on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Here is the synopsis of that show as provided by MTV:

“Maci, Catelynn, Farrah, and Amber say goodbye with an emotional, final look back on their journeys. From navigating teen pregnancy and the moments Bentley, Sophia, Leah and Carly were born, to the ups and downs of teen Parenthood – this special will go inside the stories of these young mothers with never-before-seen footage including their original casting tapes, behind-the-scenes secrets, and dramatic updates direct from the moms on where they are now.”

The second special Teen Mom: Ask the Moms premieres Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. Here’s the synopsis for the 30-minute special:

“Teen Mom fans have questions, and this half-hour special has answers. From whether Maci and Ryan have ever hooked up post breakup to whether or not any of the girls will be on TV again, Maci, Farrah, Amber and Catelynn dish on moments throughout the series, their love lives, the realities of filming, and more.”

In its press release MTV notes that 700,000 teenage girls in the U.S. become pregnant every single year. Show producers claim that Teen Mom “helps teens better understand the challenges of pregnancy and parenting.”

The season 4 finale of Teen Mom averaged 2.4 million total viewers per episode, and ranked as the #1 cable program among P12-34 in its time slot.
