Steve Harvey To Host Miss Universe 2016 Despite Last Year’s Blunder, And The Shocking Story Of His Rise To Success

Steve Harvey, best known for being the host of Family Feud and for hosting The Steve Harvey Morning Show along with his eponymous TV talk show, is a big deal in the world of entertainment right now. Even his monumental slip up during the Miss Universe 2015 pageant has not hindered him from being one of the stars of the moment.

In fact, despite his huge mistake at last year’s Miss Universe pageant, during which he incorrectly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner rather than the actual winner Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Steve Harvey has been invited to host this year’s Miss Universe pageant. The Morning News USA reported that Harvey will indeed be returning to the hosting role, which will be even more poignant given that the pageant is being held in the Philippines this year.

According to the Undersecretary of the Philippines Department of Tourism, Steve Harvey plans to make an apology as part of his role in the upcoming pageant.

“He wants to apologize to the Filipinos who were hurt because of what happened.”

The fact that he has been invited to return to the hosting role, despite the huge mistake that was made last year, is a testament to Steve Harvey’s worldwide popularity and his reputation for being a consummate professional. But what Steve Harvey’s fans might not know is that before he became famous and as in-demand as he is right now, Harvey was homeless. According to People magazine, Steve Harvey went from being homeless to amassing a $100 million fortune and building an empire of entertainment.

There was no magic for Steve Harvey, just integrity, ingenuity, and success. Steve Harvey opened up and said that while he has an empire with an estimated worth of $100 million, he was once homeless and living out of his Ford Tempo. During his darkest days, Steve Harvey never imagined himself to be where he is right now. He always hoped that something great would come his way, even if his luck seemed to have run out at the time, but he is so thankful that the hand given to him by luck had taken him above and beyond his wildest imagination.

Right now, the famous talk show host seems to have it all as his bestselling book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man, which was released in 2009, has since been adapted into a blockbuster film, along with providing him with various hosting opportunities as well as a syndicated radio show.

When he first quit his job to take a chance at being a comedian in the late 1980s, Steve ended up being separated from his wife, living on his own with just $50 a week in income. Steve saw this point in his life as an ugly and painful period. He has since said that at that moment in his life, he felt like he had been through too much already and that it was getting too hard to deal with what life was throwing at him.

His lowest point inevitably came, and for Steve Harvey, rock-bottom took the form of a hotel bathroom.

Steve Harvey spoke about the time that he nearly gave up but ultimately kept pushing onward.

“I sat down and started crying, but a voice said, ‘If you keep going, I’m going to take you places you’ve never been.’ It was like God said, ‘Don’t quit, you’re almost there.'”

Things started looking up for Steve Harvey from that moment, and soon after, he landed a high-profile gig performing on Showtime at the Apollo in 1993. He eventually landed a sitcom and a spot on Cedric the Entertainer and the late Bernie Mac’s Original Kings of Comedy tour.

Current happy in his marriage and his family life, along with a successful career in television, Steve Harvey believes that he can’t allow himself to slow down now.

Steve Harvey spoke on how his focus is on work and maintaining his stability, no matter how successful he becomes.

“I’m running from homelessness. I can’t ever be in that position again. If my show gets canceled, I’ve got three more. I don’t have any free time, but I have 12 jobs.”

Luckily for the comedian, his family understands how much his dreams mean to him and how everything he had to do was done for a good purpose. According to Xpose, Steve Harvey’s twin daughters forgave him for leaving them to pursue his career.

Steve Harvey spoke on how his daughters understood his drive to pursue his dreams.

“Years later they said to me, ‘Dad, we didn’t understand why you left us, but we know now you had to go. You didn’t just belong to us. You belonged to the world.’ That was emotional for me.”
