Ariana Grande Already Working On New Music — Is A New Album Coming Soon?

Ariana Grande may only have released her latest studio album Dangerous Woman two months ago, but it looks like she’s already hard at work on new music.

According to reports, Ariana’s recent breakup with boyfriend Ricky Alavarez has inspired her to get back into writing mode to create new music about her split.

Hollywood Life is reporting that Ariana “has gone into the studio to pour her heart into a breakup track” following her breakup with Ricky earlier this month, putting all her feelings about the breakup into at least one song about their split.

“She has spent the morning in the studio laying down some new tracks about love and loss,” the Ariana insider alleged.

Ariana is yet to officially speak out about the new music reports, though she has taken to Instagram to post a number of snaps from the studio in the wake of her breakup.

Grande’s first new music tease came on July 29, where she posted a snap of herself playing Pokémon GO in the studio.

“They love the music apparently,” Ariana teased.

Ariana then posted another shot of herself appearing to lay down some new tracks on July 30, uploading a caption-less snap of herself leaning on a mixing board.

Grande didn’t confirm on the photo sharing site if her trip to the studio was to record any breakup anthems in the wake of her recent split with Ricky, but it wouldn’t be the first time that Grande has put her feelings for Alvarez into song.

Ariana’s friend and writing partner Victoria Monet told Billboard earlier this year that Grande actually wrote the track “Moonlight” about her now former boyfriend.

“He waited to kiss her for a long time, and she was really impressed,” Victoria told the magazine of the former couple’s first kiss that inspired the song, which is featured on Dangerous Women. “He’s such a gentleman, and the song is a great little bookmark of the start of their relationship.”

Bustle also speculated following the release of Dangerous Woman than another track titled “Knew Better/Forever Boy” was inspired by her relationship with Ricky and also put Grande’s former boyfriend, Big Sean, on blast.

Ariana is still yet to officially confirm her split with Ricky and the reports of new music, although a source close to Grande told Hollywood Life this week that it was Ariana’s decision to call it off with the dancer, whom she grew close to on her 2015 “Honeymoon” tour.

“It was her decision to be single and she is sad but also energized to get her emotions out into her work,” a source revealed.

People also confirmed the breakup news, confirming that Grande and Alvarez had decided to go their separate ways after a year of dating.

But while Grande is yet to officially comment, she did drop some pretty big hints that appeared to confirm her big breakup on social media.

Hollywood Take recently reported that Grande posted, and then promptly deleted, a slew of social media teases hinting at a split, including tweets where she told fans that she felt “free” following the breakup.

“Change. Feelin’ free. Happy. Banginnnnnnn,” Ariana told her millions of social media followers on July 23 in posts that have since been deleted.

Grande’s fans were quick to speculate that Grande may just have been talking about her stylish new hairdo, which included bangs, though Ariana was quick to quash the speculation that she was only discussing her hair transformation.

“But yeah bangs (not just talking bangs),” Ariana tweeted.

Grande then alluded to the track “Forever Boy,” taking to Instagram to post a selfie alongside the caption “Forever Girl” as well as liking a number of fans’ tweets regarding the track, including one that read, “Forever Boy cancelled.”
