‘Destiny’: Xur’s Exotic Goods For July 29, The 4th Horsemen

Destiny owners who have not picked up a 4th Horsemen yet get their shot this weekend. Xur dropped into the Reef Friday to sell his wares and he brings the Exotic Shotgun to PlayStation and Xbox owners along with some very specific armor pieces like Bones of Eao and Mk. 44 Stand Asides, plus the RAM.

This week’s hiding spot for Xur is in the Reef social area. You’ll want to turn right from the spawn point, head down the stairs past the Bounty vendor, and then go in the first door to the right of the bottom of the stairs. The Agent of the Nine is tucked away in a corner on the right.

Xûr and his items will only be available in Destiny through the morning of Sunday, July 31. He will be gone as soon as the clock strikes 5 a.m. ET/2 a.m. PT.

For those wondering what to get, here are a few helpful hints.

The 4th Horsemen

The 4th Horsemen has an extremely tiny range, but makes up for this by being able to blast out four shots extremely quickly. This can take down a PVP opponent immediately, but only if you are close enough to them. It can be more fun to use in PVE activities too as it presents a challenging risk/reward scenario against all but the higher level bosses in Raids and such.

MK. 44 Stand Asides

The MK. 44 Stand Asides serve a very niche role for those that enjoy using the Striker Titan sub-class’ Shoulder Charge ability. The “Be Somewhere Else” innate perk grants a longer duration for when the Shoulder Charge can be activated and gives a tighter turn radius while sprinting. This is best used in Destiny’s Crucible against other players. Even then, there are other Exotic armor pieces likely to be favored.

The optional perks for MK. 44 Stand Asides provide the choice between carrying more Shotgun Ammo or Machine Gun ammo. The 59 Discipline/60 Strength split stat is decent depending on how geared you are towards using Intellect toward your Titan’s super.

Bones of Eao

These are the Exotic Boots for Hunters who like a little extra spring in their jump. The Bones of Eao intrinsic “Not Bound By Law” perk upgrades double jump with an additional jump. This instantly makes the ship jumping puzzle in the King’s Fall Raid easier, along with giving Hunters a mobility advantage over other Guardians in PVP activities.

The 57 Intellect/58 Discipline stat roll is decent depending on your current setup. The choice between bonus Sidearm or Rocket Launcher ammo is also okay depending on your play style. Re-roll if you need different bonus ammo perks or a different set of stats.

The RAM

Bungie gave the Ram a bit of a nerf for Year Two, but it’s still an incredibly useful helmet to turn Warlocks into tanks in both Crucible and PVE activities. The “Strength of the Ram” perk not only gives extra Armor, but also activates Voidwalker’s Life Steal ability on every melee hit. This Helmet still stacks well with the Sunsinger’s Flamestrike Overshield, as well.

The optional perks offer up a choice between “Hands-On” and “Second Thoughts” for bonus Super energy either from melee kills or Special Weapon Kills. The final column perk is “Invigoration” to gain bonus melee energy when picking up Orbs of Light.

The 46 Discipline/49 Strength split stat lines is not so hot for the Ram. It wouldn’t hurt to re-roll this helmet while also shooting for the “Inverse Shadow” perk in the second column.
