Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) Release Feasibly Next Month, A Year Since Original Version’s Arrival?

Although there has been no official confirmation yet of an exact date, it seems that the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) release is already on the horizon after it was spotted on GFXBench. According to a report on International Business Times, the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016) release could possibly happen in August, which is the same month the original version hit the market last year.

Possibly hinting an imminent release for the 2016 model of the Samsung Galaxy A8, its appearance on the benchmarking site also seemingly confirmed some of its key specs. GFXBench’s listing for the SM-A810 device, believed to be the Samsung Galaxy A8 2016, revealed that it would arrive pre-installed with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS.

Under the hood, it will be equipped with an octa-core 2.1GHz CPU (Samsung Exynos 7 SoC) and an octa-core ARM Mali-T760 MP8 for its GPU. The hardware specs are paired with 3GB RAM and native storage with 32 GB capacity.

For its display specs, the 2016 Galaxy A8 is expected to get a 5.1-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p. The details provided on GFXBench also specified that the phone’s display with touchscreen functionality would have at least five-finger gesture support.

As for the camera, the Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 will be equipped with a 16MP primary shooter. Meanwhile, selfie lovers will be using a 5MP lens sensor upon the release of Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 model.

When it comes to pricing, a report from GSM Arena noted that the SM-A810 device also showed up on Zauba, which provided an approximate $205 price tag for the smartphone. Zauba is an Indian website tracking imports and exports, Phone Arena explained.

The 2015 version of the Samsung Galaxy A8 was regarded as the thinnest mobile device from the South Korean tech giant, having a 5.8mm thickness. The dimensions for the upcoming Galaxy A8 have not been disclosed yet, but it is natural to anticipate that it will also be slim.

According to a review posted on Android Authority, the pros of the current model for Samsung Galaxy A8 include its all-metal design and a large, vibrant display, not to mention its excellent camera and battery life. The thin profile of the A8 was also cited as one of the handset’s strong points, as well as presence of fingerprint scanner and option for memory expansion via a microSD.

However, the mobile device’s weaknesses are its price, according to Android Authority, noting that it is expensive for a mid-range smartphone. It also has a weak speaker, and “occasional homescreen lag issues” were experienced.

Android Authority’s review for the original Samsung Galaxy A8 contained more information.

“Samsung gets a lot right with the Galaxy A8, including its premium metal construction, excellent camera experience, and surprisingly impressive battery life. With other key aspects like performance being at par with most other mid-range smartphones out there that are available at far cheaper price points, the Galaxy A8 can be a difficult device to recommend.”

Furthermore, the market release for the 2016 Samsung Galaxy A9 and A9 Pro already happened, as International Business Times specified. This only makes the release of Samsung Galaxy A8 2016 even more highly anticipated.
