Nina Dobrev Saved Ian Somherhalder, Nikki Reed’s Marriage?

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 is going to be the last season of the supernatural series. Ever since the official announcement, fans have been speculating whether Nina Dobrev will make her come back or not? Will she get to share screen space with her former lover and show’s lead actor, Ian Somerhalder? But now it looks like that’s not going to happen.

If Dobrev returns to the show, how it is going to affect Somerhalder and wife Nikki Reed?

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, when reports started to surface that Dobrev is going to make her return to the show, things started to become rough between Somerhalder and Reed. Apparently, Reed does not want to see her husband getting close to his former girlfriend. The outlet further revealed that The Final Girls actress is not returning to The Vampire Diaries, as she is very busy in promoting her upcoming films. Reed is extremely happy, as now she does not have to worry about her husband and his ex-girlfriend.

At the same time, Hollywood Life reported that Somerhalder and Reed are very much in love, and she trusts her husband when it comes to Dobrev and understands that he is not going back to her.

“Nikki and Ian are so in love. There’s nothing he could possibly do to upset her. The idea of Ian and Nina reuniting on screen for The Vampire Diaries doesn’t bother her one bit. She has no issues with this whatsoever.”

Contrary to the report from the insider, Daily Mail reported that Reed has decided to accompany her husband for the shooting of TVD’s Season 8 in Atlanta. The duo were also spotted together at LAX Airport taking a flight to the filming location.

Meanwhile, even Dobrev has made herself very clear that she does not intend to come back in the show, as she has pretty hectic schedule ahead of her. In her earlier interview with Michael Pena, the Bulgarian actress stated that TVD has been a learning platform for her, and now that she has learned how to perform, she wants to focus on bigger platforms.

“I had decided years before that I’d go the run of my contract and I wouldn’t extend, but it was a surprise for everyone else that didn’t know that,” Dobrev said in her interview with Pena for Interview Magazine.

“I always knew that I’d signed up for a certain amount of time and I fulfilled it. I had a great experience, but everything has to come to an end and this was my time. It’s like high school, you do four years and then you move onto the college.”

However, despite all the claims, show’s executive producer Julie Plec still has high hopes for Dobrev and believes that she will keep her promise and come back. During the San Diego Comic-Con, when it was asked about Dobrev’s possible return, Plec teased that fans can expect her return in Season 8.

“Not to put too much pressure on anything Nina Dobrev, but a promise was made. An emotional promise that I’d like to see come to life.”

“You heard it here, there’s been a friendship promise made, and now we’ll see if we can deliver on them,” Plec further added during the discussion when it was asked about if Dobrev will intent to keep her promise of coming back.

Apart from a rumored return in TVD, Dobrev’s xXx: The Return of Zander Cage is going to release soon. She is also featured in the reboot of the 1990 horror drama film, Flatliners; her third film – Crash Pad is in post production. So, it looks like Dobrev’s hands are full at this hour, and to take on a role as a cameo would only hamper her ongoing projects.

It is still not confirmed whether Nina Dobrev is making her comeback to The Vampire Diaries Season 8 or not, but if she is not coming back, then Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed will stay out of rumors surrounding their married life.

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 premieres in October.
