McLaren P1 Supercar Photos Released

The McLaren P1 Supercar won’t officially make its debut until the Paris Auto Show but the stylish sports car is already stirring up some buzz.

Three photos of the McLaren P1 supercar were released today in order to get people excited for the car’s debut. McLaren has some pretty lofty goals for the P1. McLaren Automotive Executive Chairman Ron Dennis, said that he hopes the new P1 redefines the supercar.

Dennis said:

“The McLaren P1 will be the result of 50 years of racing and road car heritage… Twenty years ago we raised the supercar performance bar with the McLaren F1 and our goal with the McLaren P1 is to redefine it once again.”

In a press release today, McLaren stated that the P1 will be “previewed as a design study” at the Paris Auto Show. A production model will be developed next year and put on sale within 12 months.

McLaren Automotive Managing Director Antony Sheriff, said:

“Our aim is not necessarily to be the fastest in absolute top speed but to be the quickest and most rewarding series production road car on a circuit… It is the true test of a supercar’s all round ability and a much more important technical statement. Our goal is to make the McLaren P1 the most exciting, most capable, most technologically advanced and most dynamically accomplished supercar ever made.”

The greatest car ever? Most technologically advanced? Most dynamically accomplished? McLaren definitely made some big claims today about their new supercar. Unfortunately, details about the car are scarce at the moment.

But who needs details when you have photos?

According to Slash Gear, the new super car will make its debut at the Paris Auto Show on September 27th. The car is expected to officially arrive within 12 months of its debut and is expected to be priced around $650,000.
