Michael Bay Reveals Onslaught’s Addition To ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ — Will We See The Combaticons?

Michael Bay is continuing to bring in a large number of characters to the Transformers franchise and has now introduced yet another. On Wednesday, Bay took to Twitter to confirm that there would be nothing to prepare everyone for Onslaught who has now been added to the cast of bots in Transformers: The Last Knight.

Now, the big question here is if the inclusion of Onslaught will bring about the existence of the Combaticons to the Transformers movie franchise.

Bay hopped on his Twitter account as he often does while filming and not only confirmed Onslaught’s arrival, but posted a pic of him as well. Of course, this got the fans talking and wondering about even more names that may be on the way.

Coming Soon pointed out that Onslaught is not just a new addition to the cast of characters for Transformers: The Last Knight, but a very interesting one. In the hit cartoon from the ’80s, Onslaught was the leader of a group of military elite Decepticons known as the Combaticons.

Now, there has been no official word on whether or not the Combaticons are going to be in the fifth movie, but it’s hard not to assume. Including Onslaught only means that the military force from the Decepticons can’t be far behind him.

In the animated series, they were seen as a group of renegade Decepticons who wanted nothing to do with the Autobots but always attempted to overthrow Megatron. They were punished for their actions but eventually brought back around by Starscream.

As time went on, Starscream gave the Combaticons power that was very similar to that of the Constructicons as they could assemble to form the very large Bruticus. The Constructicons were featured in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and they did assemble to become their larger form known as Devastator.

Mark Wahlberg is returning to star as Cade Yaeger in Transformers: The Last Knight along with some familiar names from the past of the franchise. Josh Duhamel is back as Lieutenant Colonel Lennox and Tyrese Gibson is returning as Robert Epps.

Isabela Moner is going to be in the film as the new female lead by the name of Izabella, but the cast is ever-growing. Sir Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock, Jerrod Carmichael, and Santiago Cabrera are all going to have roles in the film as well.

Of course, a barrage of the Transformers (Autobots and Decepticons) will be back for the fifth film as well and that includes Optimus Prime, Drift, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Barricade. A new good guy will be arriving by the name of Sqweeks and he will likely add a good bit of comic relief to the film.

This is the fifth film in the Transformers franchise and it is set for release on June 23 of next year. As of now, there are at least two more confirmed films to come in the following years:

  • Transformers – Bumblebee spinoff – June 8, 2018
  • Transformers 6 – June 28, 2019

Transformers: The Last Knight is the fifth film in the franchise, and Michael Bay is showing no signs of slowing down. The film is set to hit theaters next summer for what Paramount hopes will end up being a gigantic blockbuster. Two more films are set to come after this one and Onslaught is now in the picture.
