Sia To Voice Character In Upcoming ‘My Little Pony’ Movie, Impersonated By Celine Dion

Sia, the Australia singer and songwriter, is well known for her collaborations in the music industry. As a singer, she has lent her vocals to songs like “Titanium” and “Wild Ones” that were recorded by artists David Guetta and Flo Rida respectively. Apart from singing a song that featured on the Finding Dory soundtrack, Sia has also launched This is Acting, her seventh studio album.

Now, Sia will be featured in the voice cast for My Little Pony: The Movie, a remake of the 1986 animated musical fantasy film. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the “Chandelier” star will lend her voice to Songbird Serenade, who is a pony pop star in the movie.

Additionally, Sia will also sing two songs that will be featured on the film’s soundtrack. Hasbro and Lionsgate have signed up Sia to join other illustrious cast members that will help to bring the script, written by Rita Hsiao and Meghan McCarthy, to life.

Often covering her face by a blonde and black wig, Sia is known to be extremely reserved and camera-shy. In 2013, she refused to appear in the music video of “Chandelier” and also covered her face with a brown paper bag for the cover of Billboard magazine.

And although her hits like “Chandelier,” “Elastic Heart,” and “Cheap Thrills” are well-known, her work as a songwriter is yet to be recognized by her fans as people are yet to fully appreciate the multi-talented Sia, who has been instrumental in crafting songs for other artists.

In fact, various artists have expressed a strong desire to collaborate with Sia to harness her phenomenal songwriting skills. And Sia has no qualms about writing beautiful lyrics, sometimes crafting an entire song in less than an hour. According to Billboard, Sia wrote lyrics for Rihanna‘s “Diamonds” after a quick brainstorming session of just 14 minutes.

“Diamonds” became so popular that Rihanna asked Sia to co-write another song for her, and the outcome of the collaboration was “Sledgehammer,” the latest hit with a music video that is reminiscent of Sia’s other works. Sia had also written “Pretty Hurts” for Rihanna, but the song’s recording was put on hold for several months. When production was delayed again, Beyoncé took the opportunity to work on the song, and eventually, the track went on to become a hit.

Sia has also worked with Greg Kurstin to write “Radioactive,” Rita Ora’s clubbing anthem that allows ravers to cut loose on the dance floor. Not many people know, but Sia also co-wrote “Perfume” for Britney Spears, who is often thought of as the Queen of Pop.

The energetic Sia confesses that she is a workaholic, and her dedication to her work has enabled her to stay away from other possible addictions. According to Pop Crush, Sia will be seen performing at the sixth annual iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas that will also feature performances by popular artists like Britney Spears, Drake, and Ariana Grande.

Sia is not only respected by the current generation of music stars, but she is also well received by veterans musicians like Celine Dion. According to Woman’s Day, Celine Dion appeared on The Tonight Show and showcased her talent by performing various musical impressions.

Celine channeled various artists like Cher and Rihanna before she decided to imitate Sia, with whom she previously performed the popular duet, “Loved Me Back to Life.” Celine impersonated Sia by wearing a makeshift wig and delivered a near perfect version of Sia’s “Hush, Little Baby” in a squeaky pitched voice that closely resembled Sia’s signature style of singing. Celine added a dramatic effect to her performance by flipping her hair over her face to make an attempt to perfect her Sia impression.
