Angela Dufrene Update: New Information On Miami Missing Toddler

Baby girl Angela Dufrene has been missing from her home in Miami since last November. Though only about 19-months-old when she disappeared, Angela’s mother, Marjorie Dufrene, never alerted police that her toddler was missing.

Responding to an anonymous call on a different matter, the Florida Department of Children and Families visited the Dufrene home. Angela’s mother tried to cover up the fact that she was missing by telling DCF staff that she had only four children, when in fact, Angela was her fifth. Authorities could tell something was not quite right, and after a birth record search that unearthed the baby girl’s existence, they returned to the Dufrene home to investigate what happened to Angela.

According to the Miami Herald, the incident report filed by the Department of Children and Families details the visit.

“At the time of the report, there was an open investigation concerning a lack of food in the mother’s home when her older children came to visit. It was during this investigations when investigative officials were informed that Angela had not been seen for the past several months.”

Authorities had absolutely nothing to go on last week when notified that Angela Dufrene was missing. Her mother could not even produce one picture of the baby girl. Since then, new information, including a single photo of the missing toddler, has surfaced.

Although Marjorie Dufrene told Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Cindy Lederman that Angela had died last year, narrowing the incident to sometime in November, authorities hold out hope that the toddler is still alive. Ms. Dufrene said that Angela had taken a fall which resulted in her death, and her mother disposed of the tiny body in a dumpster. However, authorities have noted that this is only one scenario in which Angela allegedly died. Ms. Dufrene has given varying accounts of the girl’s death.

Hoping that Angela Dufrene is actually still alive, the police have launched a desperate search to find the whereabouts of the missing toddler, starting near her home in Overtown. ABC News reports that according to the mother’s cousin, Ms. Dufrene was evicted from her apartment in this town in November 2015, coordinating with the timeline of Angela’s disappearance.

Turning to neighbors and relatives of Angela Dufrene, the Miami Police hope to gain pertinent information to piece the story together and find out what truly happened to the missing toddler. According to 7News, Miami Police Officer Kenia Fallat says the public can help.

“Information from family members, from friends, that perhaps may have some some sort of recollection as to where this child can be.”

“We are speaking to mom and did receive the case once DCF started investigating an anonymous complaint. They immediately brought the case to us, and we started doing our own investigation.”

“My concern is, if this child is alive, we want to find her immediately.”

Marjorie Dufrene’s history with the Florida Department of Children and Families goes back a long way. Due to accounts of child abuse, the mother was not allowed to physically punish her three older children. She was turned in for hitting her son, and the children were taken from her custody in 2013. They went to live with their father, Lewis Dufrene.

Authorities did not follow up with the mother after she gave birth to Angela and her twin brother, who now resides in foster care. Please help police find missing toddler Angela Dufrene.
