Dr. Dre Citizen’s Arrest: Music Mogul Handcuffed Outside Malibu Home After Accusations Of Road Rage And Gun Waving

Dr. Dre was handcuffed outside his own home before being released after a neighbor demanded a citizen’s arrest and claimed he was threatened with a gun.

Dr. Dre is facing some legal trouble after confronting a man outside of his Malibu home. The music mogul was reportedly returning home when he found that his driveway was blocked and demanded that the neighbor move his car to let him through. The situation escalated when the neighbor called the police and reported that Dr. Dre had a gun and even went so far as to threaten him with it, according to the Los Angeles Times.

When officers arrived at the home of Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, the billionaire rapper was handcuffed, searched, and patted down. When no weapon was found, he was then released.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a man with a firearm at Dre’s home on the Pacific Coast Highway on Monday morning. The man, who was accused of blocking Dr. Dre’s driveway, claimed that when the rapper pulled up, he not only insisted that the man move his car, but the rapper also pointed a gun at him.

“Due to the nature of the call, the person was searched, handcuffed, and briefly detained in a patrol car while deputies investigated the incident,” the statement said.

Dre told the officers that when he asked the man to move his car away from the driveway, he did. Then he claims the man came back and parked on the median in front of his house. The rapper went on to claim that the man remained parked in the median until Dre got out and began filming him with his cell phone in order to have a record of the incident.

The accuser claims that he drove off after seeing a gun. Is it possible that he saw a cell phone and not a gun? Did he figure that the rapper, based on some of his more popular lyrics, would actually be found to have a gun on him and get arrested based on the gun possession itself?

Dr. Dre denies pointing a gun and even told officers that he didn’t have a weapon on him at the time. That didn’t stop officers from searching Dre and even detaining him temporarily before ultimately letting him go.

According to the report, Dre was cooperative with police officers who responded to the emergency call. He consented to be searched and did everything he was told before he was let go.

The legal drama is not over yet for Young, who was given a citation and will have to appear in court. His accuser demanded a citizen’s arrest for brandishing a firearm. The accusations, if proven, would be a misdemeanor. Given that the police officers who responded didn’t find a weapon or any evidence of a crime, the burden of proof would then be on the accuser.

The Los Angeles County Sherrif’s Department has reportedly forwarded the citizen’s arrest complaint to the district attorney, according to TMZ. It will be up to them to decide if there is a case and if it will move forward. If there is any legal action taken, Dr. Dre and his accuser will have to face off in court.
