Macaulay Culkin Addresses Drug Addiction, Why Dating Has Been Hard, And Why He’s Finished With His Band

Macaulay Culkin has finally opened up about his past with drugs, according to News Australia. The 35-year-old actor addressed the rumors circulating around his drug addiction and denied that he was ever “pounding $6K of heroin a month.”

For years, Macaulay Culkin has been the subject of rumors regarding a debilitating drug addiction. The Home Alone star finally addressed those rumors in his recent interview with the Guardian. The rumors were triggered by a series of 2012 photographs in which the actor reportedly looked way too skinny.

In fact, what made those rumors seem even more credible was the fact that Macaulay Culkin, who turns 36-years-old next month, had previously been arrested for possession of marijuana and a number of other banned drugs.

But Macaulay Culkin revealed that the public and the media was “not necessarily” right to worry about his alleged drug addiction, and he denied the rumors that he was “pounding” $6K of heroin a month.

“The thing that bugged me was tabloids wrapping it all in this weird guise of concern. No, you’re trying to shift papers.”

Macaulay Culkin also revealed the negative impact the paparazzi had on his private and love life, mainly because he doesn’t “wh*re” himself out. The former child actor said that he isn’t “worthy” of 20 photographers as well as onlookers with camera phones attacking him on the streets.

“It’s been like that my whole adult life. You take on a prey-like attitude, always scanning the horizon. It’s strange on dates, as it looks like you’re not paying attention.”

In his recent interview with the New York Times, Macaulay Culkin revealed details of his life after he abandoned acting, according to the Independent. The Home Alone star said he is now more focused on being a roadie.

Macaulay Culkin confirmed the news that he had announced his retirement from acting earlier this year. The 35-year-old actor also opened up about what it was like living under the constant spotlight of the paparazzi in New York City.

Macaulay Culkin said he would wake up at 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. just to take peaceful walks to avoid paparazzi. The actor also admitted that he has been spending lots of time in Paris just because he faces less pressure from the media there.

Even though Macaulay Culkin has recently appeared in an ad for Compare the Market, he says he is actively avoiding any kind of media exposure.

Instead of acting, the former child star is now focused on the life of a roadie for Adam Green of the Moldy Peaches and Har Mar Superstar.

Macaulay Culkin also admitted that he doesn’t have a home. Instead, his home is where his boots are, he said, adding that he enjoys jumping on people’s tour buses and putting himself to use by doing load-ins and outs.

“I do everything except the merch table. I tried that, but… we didn’t sell anything.”

Macaulay Culkin has also devoted some of his time to his band the Pizza Underground lately. The band plays parodied songs of the ’60s band the Velvet Underground and appeared in a controversial adaptation of Aladdin earlier this year.

But Macaulay Culkin also revealed that he is set to once and for all say goodbye to his band. The Home Alone star said that after their upcoming album is released, it’s going to be the end of their “silly pizza band.”

Macaulay Culkin formed Pizza Underground in 2013 along with Matt Colbourn (guitar and vocals), Phoebe Kreutz (glockenspiel), Deenah Vollmer (vocals), and Austin Kilham (tambourine and vocals). Culkin does vocals and plays the kazoo.
