Stephen Amell Says His Russian Is Getting Better For Season 5 Of ‘Arrow,’ Will He Return To ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’?

The upcoming season of Arrow has actor Stephen Amell retracing his characters currently unknown Russian roots. While the plot remains unknown, fans of the show could possibly learn how Oliver Queen got involved with the Russians in the first place.

Of course, with all this Russian talk, Amell has apparently been working on his accent.

According to CBS 8, the Arrow star, along with a few others, stopped by ET’s Comic-Con suite in San Diego to tease fans about Season 5 of CW’s most popular superhero drama. While teasing fans, Amell admitted that his Russian is a work in progress.

“It’s actually pretty good,” Amell told ET’s Leanne Aguilera. “We have a phonetics coach and a translator on set when I have to do Russian and it seems to be working.”

Season 5 won’t be the first time fans get to hear Oliver Queen speaking Russian as he spoke it in the early parts of the show. However, Amell admitted, “That was all fake in the first season.”

“We’re actually trying to do it properly,” he explained. “[The phonetics coach says] ‘This is actually what you’re saying. This is the word that you should emphasize,’ and we’re trying to do it right.”

Besides the honesty about his Russian, Amell, and the rest of the guests remained tight-lipped on any spoiler hints for the upcoming season. Only executive producer Wendy Mericle revealed that season five would pick up about four months after the season four finale.

She also teased that Arrow fans will have to wait and see what happens on The Flash now that the timeline on the popular Arrow spinoff was changed. She implied that every character on Arrow could be affected by what Barry Allen did in The Flash season finale.

Emily Bett Rickards, who plays Felicity on Arrow, was also on hand a Comic-Con and shared how the recent events on Arrow have affected her character.

“I think Felicity’s got some PTSD,” the actress said. “She’s about to have a mental breakdown.”

After last season’s struggles with Damien Darhk, fans saw the relationship between Oliver and Felicity fall apart and now they are the only two members of Team Arrow left standing.

With that in mind, Amell says that the new season of Arrow will be focused on “the formation of a new team.” Guggenheim also said that Oliver Queen would be seen in his new role as the mayor of Star City.

Meanwhile, The CW’s Arrow won’t be the only show fans will be able to see their favorite emerald arrow.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that during the Legends of Tomorrow panel at Comic-Con, executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Phil Klemmer announced that Amell would appear in the season premiere for Legends of Tomorrow.

“It’s right out of the gate, right away. The first few seconds. You won’t have to wait long to see it,” Klemmer said of the premiere. “I would recommend waiting to go to the bathroom until the first commercial break.”

While this marks the first crossover scheduled for this season, a major crossover event between Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl is planned for the fall.

As for Legends of Tomorrow, 9 News states that season two of the show is going to look different. Season 1 saw many of the original team members bid farewell so the new season will have plenty of new faces, including a host of villains.

The villain squad has been appropriately named the Legion of Doom and will consist of Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher), Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).

The CW’s Arrow kicks things off on Oct. 5, and Legends of Tomorrow follows shortly after with its premiere on Oct. 13.
