Is Luke Pell The New ‘Bachelor’? Why He Isn’t The Best Choice To Hand Out Roses

Is Luke Pell the new Bachelor?

After getting sent home by JoJo Fletcher following his hometown date, fans began wondering if Luke Pell — the handsome southern gent and war veteran — would take the reigns and look for love on television as ABC’s next Bachelor.

Apparently, Luke Pell is a top choice for the job and may have already been in talks with producers about the gig. Sigh.

Bachelor/ette spoilers pro Reality Steve seems to think that Pell is going to ink a deal to hand out roses on the next season of The Bachelor. Steve is so convinced, in fact, that he believes Luke’s exit from the show was actually a setup! All of those tears from JoJo and Luke’s dumbfounded expression? All for show, says Steve.

“Basically, Luke’s response is he thought she already knew. He’s stunned, he can’t believe it, and he thought they were on the same page blah blah blah. But yeah, even more of a setup to make him the Bachelor next season.”

Luke Pell would be following the typical Bachelor/ette process if he signed on to do The Bachelor. Producers generally look to the third or fourth person sent home on the previous season to take the helm and hand out roses. JoJo, of course, was Ben Higgins’ number two but got the gig because she was a fan favorite. Typically, however, the “honor” is given to someone who goes home after hometowns. (Enter: Luke).

E! News caught up with Luke Pell at the Men Tell All taping and asked him how he would feel if he was given the opportunity to take over the Bachelor mansion following JoJo.

“The process worked for me. JoJo kind of allowed me to love again, it was something I hadn’t done in awhile prior to our relationship. I’m at a place now where I’m excited to be in love again. I think that if that comes up and that’s in the future for me, I couldn’t be more excited to find it,” Luke Pell said.

That’s sort of an interesting response, don’t you think?

If Luke Pell is the next Bachelor, it’s going to be a relatively lame season. Of course, a lot of women absolutely l-o-v-e Luke, and would enjoy seeing him find love, but he seems to be lacking the personality required to carry a 2-hour primetime reality TV show.

There really hasn’t been a great Bachelor in several years — there was Brad Womack, who was on the phone with his therapist 24/7, Sean Lowe who was far more reserved than expected, Juan Pablo who was obnoxious, Chris Soules who was nice to look at but bored us to tears, and Ben Higgins, who picked Lauren and broke our hearts. These guys all looked great, but none really packed that reality television punch that the show has so desperately needed.

Luke Pell would make a lovely Bachelor, don’t get me wrong. But he does lack that vigor, that excitement if you will, that will keep people interested (read: snorefest).

Since ABC seemingly refuses to find fresh meat for The Bachelor, viewers are pretty much stuck. The only other option from this season would be Chase, who was sent packing before getting to spend the night with JoJo in the Fantasy Suite. Chase may be very easy on the eyes but he seems a little easy on the brain too. Why does this keep happening to us?!

When asked about doing The Bachelor, Chase had a much different reaction than Luke.

“It’s just one step at a time for me. Nothing’s been out there, no opportunity’s been offered, so I’m just doing me,” he said.

If I had to choose between Luke and Chase, I’d rather watch Luke fall in love on television. But it’s going to be boring. Painstakingly so. Luke is such a nice guy and he’s really sweet. Unfortunately, nice guys do not good television make.

As for JoJo, she has to choose between Jordan and Robby on the show’s finale (for the record, I don’t envy her decision, not even a little bit). Both guys seem a bit immature so who knows how long her relationship will actually last?

JoJo thinks that any of her final guys would be great on The Bachelor(insert eyeroll).

“I think that any of my final guys are unbelievable picks. I think that any girl would be so lucky to date them and you can’t go wrong with either one. And they’re strikingly beautiful, so that helps,” JoJo Fletcher said.

We can just agree to disagree, JoJo. We agree on the “strikingly beautiful” part, but we disagree on the “unbelievable picks” part.

Luke Pell may be announced as the next Bachelor on the Men Tell All special.

Do you think that he’s the right guy for the job?
