Tame Impala Pelted With Hundreds Of Cushions In France, Honored With Documentary

Tame Impala have just revealed details about a deluxe edition of their album Currents, which was released on July 17 last year, according to NME. It was the album’s first anniversary that prompted the Australian band’s frontman Kevin Parker to announce plans for the deluxe edition.

In an Instagram post exactly one year after the release of Tame Impala’s latest album, Parker announced to his social media followers that the deluxe edition of the album, as well as B-sides, is in the works.

“1 year since this album was released! Feels like a lifetime ago but also like it was yesterday at the same time.”

In the same post, Tame Impala’s frontman also admitted that he “and other peoples too it seems” didn’t predict such a success of the album, which is why he thanked all those who had been onboard with the band all this time.

Tame Impala had the perfect opportunity to win over a prime time audience at this year’s Glastonbury festival. Just last month, the Australian band had their gig scheduled on the Pyramid Stage just before Adele’s performance, which is why many fans of Adele fell in love with Tame Impala while waiting for their favorite singer.

Earlier this month, Tame Impala was showered with cushions thrown by their fans at their July 4’s concert in France. The Australian band had a gig in Lyon, and nobody expected it, but their fans began throwing cushions onstage while the band performed “Apocalypse Dreams.” Although at first Tame Impala members were worried that their fans could be booing them for some reason, it was later revealed that in France it’s the traditional way to show your enjoyment of an onstage performance.

A dedicated fan of Tame Impala has recently made headlines by making a 30-minute amateur documentary about the Australian band’s history, according to Music Feeds. The diehard fan uploaded the documentary to YouTube in an attempt to show new fans of the band just how immense Tame Impala’s history is.

Tame Impala fan Robbie Arroyo, who is based in the United States, uploaded his homemade documentary detailing the band’s history as well as showing how hardcore some fans of the band are last month.

The 30-minute documentary includes cuts from online clips of Tame Impala performing in different cities, interviews of the band’s members, as well as some of Arroyo’s own voiceover narration.

Arroyo titled his amateur documentary about Tame Impala as “From Down Under To On Top,” and the video has been watched on YouTube more than 34,000 times. The fan revealed that he was inspired to make the homemade video after watching the fan-made Mac Demarco documentary “Tossed Salad.”

“There is not yet a true Tame Impala ‘documentary’ on YouTube. So, I took the liberty of creating one myself.”

Arroyo also added that it was the first such project he has ever made in his life.

Earlier this month, Tame Impala visited Israel for their performance at Rishon Lezion‘s Live Park, according to The Times of Israel.

Tame Impala has always been loved in Israel, and the Australian band’s third album Currents was a huge success in the nation. In fact, Israel’s Army Radio listeners named Currents the best album of 2015.

Tame Impala’s Currents album wasn’t in the band’s traditional rock ‘n’ roll genre. Instead, the band focused on synthetic pop and R&B tones. In fact, shortly after the release of the album, the band’s frontman Parker revealed he has a “fetish” for “extremely sugary pop music.”

So does it mean that Tame Impala is slowly making a transition to “extremely sugary pop music”?
