Michael Turner Gets DUI After Falcons’ Win

On Monday night, Michael Turner set a franchise record for the Atlanta Falcons with his 51st touchdown. On Tuesday morning, Turner sat in the Gwinnett County Jail on DUI charges.

Fox Sports reports that Turner was booked in Gwinnett County Jail early Tuesday morning after he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in Atlanta. Turner was booked at about 5 am after he was caught driving 97 mph in a 65 mph zone.

Cpl. Edwin Ritter, a police spokesman, told Yahoo Sports:

”The officer made contact with the driver who identified himself as 30-year-old Michael Turner of the Atlanta Falcons … The officer could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the driver and proceeded to conduct a DUI investigation.”

Turner was released early this morning on $2,179 bond.

The Atlanta Falcons have not commented on the incident yet.

Michael Turner is far from the only athlete to face DUI charges this year. Jason Kidd was arrested this Summer after he slammed his car into a pole, Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt faced DUI charges during the off season; Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda, Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon, Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, and Bucs cornerback Eric Wright also faced DUI charges.
