WWE News: Alberto Del Rio Under Fire In WWE, Could Be Leaving WWE Very Soon

Alberto Del Rio is a great performer in the ring, and no one denies that fact. He is also one of the most decorated WWE Superstars on the current roster. Despite all of his talent and the accolades he’s earned inside and outside of WWE, he was drafted to SmackDown with the 29th overall pick during the WWE Draft. Del Rio isn’t too happy about being drafted so low.

Not only is Del Rio unhappy with his draft pick, but it’s also been rumored that he is upset about being drafted to a different brand than his girlfriend and fellow WWE superstar, Paige. Overall, he just seems to be unhappy working with WWE. Recently, Del Rio did an interview with Sportskeeda.com and revealed exactly how much longer he wants to wrestle.

“At the end of the day you can love what you do, but you have to be rewarded. If somebody wants to have me in their organization, they have to pay me, and there is no other place like WWE, which is a major league of progress and growth. TNA does not have the wherewithal as WWE does.

“Once it’s done, I think I am ready to say goodbye to the sport. I think I have 3-5 more years in wrestling and I am hoping I spend all those years in WWE.”

Alberto Del Rio may continue wrestling for another three to five years, but he may have been stretching the truth when he claimed that he wanted to spend the rest of them in WWE. According to a report from Daily Wrestling News, there are some internal issues within WWE right now regarding Del Rio that could see him leave WWE very soon.

The report is claiming that Alberto Del Rio is unhappy with his role in WWE, which is understandable because he has not been booked strongly over the past several months of WWE programming. In the past, it has been reported that Triple H is not a big fan of Del Rio, and that may have influenced his booking going into the WWE Draft last week.

Apparently, Del Rio has some minor heat with some WWE officials, but Triple H is still hesitant to give him a better position on WWE television. Vince McMahon wanted to push Del Rio going into the WWE Draft as an important WWE Superstar to draft early. However, Triple H pushed for creative to back off pushing Del Rio, which is ultimately what ended up happening.

A major factor in the decision to keep Del Rio on the backburner was his contract situation. His WWE contract is said to be expiring in October, so WWE officials are going to be hesitant to push him based on the fact that his unhappiness could cause him to leave the company when his contract officially expires.

The next few months of WWE programming are pivotal to the relationship between Alberto and WWE. He’s been drafted to SmackDown, which will give him the opportunity to be a top veteran for the brand and will most likely lead to more time on WWE TV, which is what Del Rio wants. If he still wants The Miz’s Intercontinental Championship, he’ll have that chance as well.

Alberto Del Rio is too talented and experienced not to be featured in a much more prominent role on WWE programming. He’ll never struggle to find a place to wrestle, but even he said that WWE is the place to be. If Del Rio’s time with WWE is to continue, then the two parties have to find some middle ground. Hopefully by October, the two sides come to an understanding. WWE is a better product with Alberto Del Rio on the roster than it would be without him.
