Rihanna Doesn’t Want Her Fans Playing ‘Pokémon GO’ At Her Concerts

Rihanna is saying no to Pokémon GO. E! Online reports that the “Work” singer told her fans at a recent concert that she wanted all of their attention on her. So that means no texting and definitely no Pokémon.

“I don’t want to see you texting your boyfriends or your girlfriends,” the Barbadian superstar said to the crowd during her performance. “I don’t want to see you catching any Pokémons up in this b***h.”

That’s bad news for all of the Rihanna fans who happen to also be Pokémon GO fans. but hey, it’s just for two hours of a concert that you paid to attend.

But if you want to see Rihanna while potentially playing Pokémon GO, you could watch her when she makes a guest appearance on Bates Motel Season 5 on A&E.

At San Diego Comic-Con, the producers of Bates Motel announced that Rihanna will play Marion Crane, Fuse reports. This is a classic character who was played by actress Janet Leigh in the original Psycho movie by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960. Spoiler alert: Marion becomes a guest at the motel but never leaves because she’s killed by Norman, dressed as his mother.

They dropped the news by sharing a video of Rihanna revealing that she will be “checking” into Bates Motel.

“We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way,” said executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin said in a statement released after the Comic-Con announcement. “We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate.”

As The Hollywood Reporter notes, at the end of Bates Motel Season 4, Norman kills his mother played by Vera Farmiga by filling their house with carbon monoxide. With the mother dead, Bates is now about to carry out the iconic murder made famous in the original Psycho movie.

“Season five is about the ways in which our show does and more specifically does not intersect with the events of Psycho,” producer Carlton Cuse said to The Hollywood Reporter after the Season 4 finale. “We are going to see a version of Norman that is much closer now to the one in the movie, but the way in which he acts and the events in the story will not be the same as the movie. They will cross paths with some of the events in the movie and lead to an ultimate resolution. What that resolution is and how that plays out is something that will be not disconnected to the movie Psycho but will be very much our own story in the same way the entire series has been.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rihanna has confessed to being a fan of the show and admitted that during a Vanity Fair cover interview. Cuse took note on his Twitter page and the seeds of the “Good Girl, Gone Bad’s” casting were planted.

Although the stint on Bates Motel is probably the biggest scripted acting role Rihanna has had to date, it isn’t the only acting job she has coming up.

The Source reports that she will be playing a sexy alien stripper in Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets. The film, directed by Luc Besson and based on a French comic stars Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan as futuristic space agents. On one of their missions, DeHaan enters a nightclub where Rihanna’s character is the main attraction.

Rihanna’s part is so crazy, it’s so awesome,” DeHaan said at Comic-Con on Thursday, USA Today reports. “I worked with her the first two weeks of the shoot and whenever I told anybody what I was going to be doing, their jaws were on the floor and they were so jealous. And that’s all I can say.”
