‘LEGO Dimensions’ Wave 7: Sonic, E.T., And Fantastic Beasts Coming In November

Six expansion packs for LEGO Dimensions have been unveiled at Comic-Con International in San Diego this weekend. The sets feature new characters from movies, TV shows, and even a popular video game franchise. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Gremlins, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Adventure Time, and Sonic the Hedgehog are all getting packs in Wave 7. Collectors can expect Wave 7 to hit store shelves beginning November 18.

The biggest expansion pack in Wave 7 is the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Story Pack. It includes six new levels. The storyline of the Fantastic Beasts pack is based on the Harry Potter spin-off film, which is also making its theatrical debut on November 18. At the same time, it will also continue the story from the main Starter Pack.

The Story Pack comes with a Newt Scamander minifigure, plus a Niffler figure that has the bricks to also build Sinister Scorpion and Vicious Vulture. There is an additional Fun Pack (sold separately) that comes with a Tina Goldstein LEGO minifigure, and the 3-in-1 Swooping Evil figure that can also be used to build Brutal Bloom and Crawling Creeper. Wizards and witches often have their specialty spells, with Newt and Tina being no exception. Newt can cast Diffindo, Reparo and Lumos; Tina has Aguamenti and Protego at her disposal.

Sonic is new to LEGO Dimensions, but the fastest thing alive isn’t showing any signs of slowing down for the occasion. Sonic’s Level Pack features some of the most-loved stages in the franchise’s history, including gems like Green Hill and Emerald Coast. Plus, the trailer confirms it will be possible to transform Sonic into Super Sonic.

Physical LEGOs that come with the Sonic the Hedgehog Level Pack are a Sonic minifigure, a golden ring, the Sonic Speedster car, and Tails’ trusty plane called the Tornado. Like most LEGO bricks, the Sonic Speedster can be taken apart brick by brick to build something new. Using the bricks from the Sonic Speedster, players can also build the Blue Typhoon and the Motobug. Similarly, the Tornado’s bricks can be used to build both Crabmeat and Eggcatcher.

The other three expansion packs in Wave 7 are a Gremlins Team Pack, an E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Fun Pack, and an Adventure Time Fun Pack. Collectors get both the Gizmo and Stripe minifigures in the Team Pack, while the E.T. Fun Pack comes with an E.T. minifigure and his iconic “Phone Home” device.

Wave 6, which releases on September 27, introduces Adventure Time to LEGO Dimensions with a Level Pack and Team Pack. In Wave 7, the Marceline Fun Pack adds the Vampire Queen to the game with her own LEGO minifigure. The Marceline pack is being sold exclusively at Toys “R” Us on launch day, but it is expected to trickle in to other retailers at a later date.

As an added bonus, all the LEGO minifigures that come inside every expansion pack in Wave 7 (along with the expansion packs in Wave 6, Wave 8, and Wave 9) have their own golden Toy Tag. The tags are used to unlock a Battle Arena for each of the themed Adventure Worlds. Battle Arenas boast four gameplay modes and have their own distinctive environments. Once unlocked, up to four players can enjoy them through a split-screen local multiplayer experience.

LEGO Dimensions is currently available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
