Jin Goo: Korean Actor Of ‘Descendants Of The Sun’ Will Join The Cameo Lineup For K-Drama Adaption Of ‘Entourage’

As of late, it seems the Korean television and film industries are looking towards American films as inspiration for their adaptations. For example, The Beauty Inside, which starred Han Hyo Joo as Yi Soo and a star-studded cast of Korean actors and actresses playing Woo Jin including Park Shin Hye, Juri Ueno, and, Lee Jin Wook, is based off the 2012 American film of the same name. In another example, popular CBS show Criminal Minds will also be seeing the K-drama treatment in which they hope to make the multi-season format popular in South Korea, as reported by Dramabeans.

However, the one K-drama adaptation that is getting plenty of attention among the K-drama communities is Entourage. Based off the popular HBO series loosely based on Mark Wahlberg’s experiences as an up-and-coming actor, the K-drama adaptation of Entourage will chronicle the life of an up-and-coming actor in the Korean film and television industry. And just like the source series had plenty of cameo appearances, the K-drama adaptation will have them too. One of the confirmed cameo appearances will be Song Ji Hyo of Running Man fame.

Now, another popular Korean actor has been confirmed to make a cameo appearance in Entourage. Jin Goo, who is known for playing the secondary male lead in Descendants of the Sun, will be added to the cameo appearances consisting of numerous Korean television and film stars, as reported by Soompi. Jin Goo reportedly filmed for the series on July 24, but details about his role have yet to be revealed. It is also unknown if Jin Goo’s cameo appearance will only last one episode or stretch and span a number of episodes.

With Jin Goo now a part of the star-studded cameos, he joins Korean actors and actresses Ha Jung Woo, Kim Tae Ri, Park Han Byul, Kang Ha Neul, Kim Sung Kyoon, and Song Ji Hyo, as well as K-pop idols and groups Mamamoo, Chungha and Nayoung of I.O.I., Dok2, and Hyukoh.

Because of his role on Descendants of the Sun, Jin Goo is probably the most popular Korean star to make a cameo on Entourage. In the popular K-drama series, Jin Goo played Sergeant Major Seo Dae Young, a soldier down to the core for he fits well in military situations over civilian. He is under Captain Yoo Si Jin (Song Joong Ki), but they are good friends. Dae Young also has romantic feelings for First Lieutenant Yoon Myeong Ju (Kim Ji Won).

The K-drama adaptation of Entourage will star Seo Kang Joon as Cha Young Bin, Cho Jin Woong as Kim Eun Gab, Park Jung Min as Lee Ho Jin, and Lee Kwang Soo as Cha Joon. Anyone who knows the HBO series can see the K-drama adaptation is following the “four friends” detail. They even made K-drama versions of characters from the original series. For example, Lee Dong Hwi will play Geobook, who is the K-drama version of Salvatore “Turtle” Assante played by Jerry Ferrara.

The K-drama adaptation of Entourage is currently in the middle of filming. It is expected to release sometime in October of this year on tvN and will air on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. KST.
