WWE News: Becky Lynch Reveals Her Plan to Make Women’s Wrestling in WWE More Successful

WWE has done a great deal to make Women’s wrestling improve dramatically over the past two years. The “Divas Revolution” was a movement in WWE that set off a chain of events that led to the rebranding of the WWE Women’s division and WWE Women’s Championship.

The “Four Horsewomen of NXT” took over women’s wrestling in WWE and made the NXT brand unique because it had something WWE’s RAW and SmackDown didn’t. When WWE brought Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, and Charlotte to the main roster to fix that issue, it was the start of great change for WWE’s women.

However, the division was split up into teams until heel turns, injuries, and other complications led to the “Divas Revolution” becoming something of a mess. However, the division has been rebranded and is now split up equally between RAW and SmackDown after the WWE Draft.

However, many of the WWE Universe are wondering what WWE is planning for the Women’s division as it continues to grow, especially after the brand extension. According to an article from Cageside Seats, Becky Lynch recently appeared along with the The New Day and AJ Styles for a panel at San Diego Comic-Con this week to discuss all things WWE and she revealed her plan for WWE’s Women’s division.

“I think sometimes women were depicted as catty, and we all secretly hate each other. I think I’d change that. I think sometimes the storyline is as simple as we’re just going to be the best, and we’re going for the championships, and we all don’t secretly hate each other consistently.

“I think that’s one thing – I’d like more time. I’d like there to be consistently more women’s storylines going on at the same time. In NXT, it wasn’t this big freaking ‘Divas Revolution’ if you want to call it that. It was guerrilla warfare. That was how we got to where we are now. It’s not throwing us in there in a bunch of random tag team matches and being like, ‘here are some girls, we’re doing things with them.’ It’s just that we need equal opportunities.

“We can wrestle like the lads. We can do the things that the lads do, and it doesn’t have to be a big deal. Just let us go do our thing. Don’t make a big deal of it. Have storylines going on, like they have a bunch of lads storylines going on. That’s what I’d like to see different.”

If Becky Lynch’s plan for the WWE Women’s division could be summed up in one simple phrase, it would be to “let the women wrestle.” It doesn’t take a “Divas Revolution” gimmick or anything more complicated than consistently good matches with the top female talents in the world, which WWE has in spades.

There is no question that WWE currently has the deepest and strongest Women’s roster in WWE history, so booking more than one match or segment on RAW or SmackDown should be a high priority to get their women much more time on WWE programming.

The WWE Draft and brand extension create an interesting opportunity for WWE to bring in some new elements to the division. For example, many within the WWE Universe have argued that to make the women’s division equal, they should have all the same matches as the men. There should be a Women’s Royal Rumble, a Women’s Money in the Bank, and so on.

One of the biggest issues the Women’s division has is there is only one prize for the entire roster to compete over, so it leads to WWE focusing mainly on the Women’s title rather than building the division. All Becky Lynch is asking for is the time in the ring to create stories in the ring and make a women’s match must-see.
