Benedict Cumberbatch Surprises Fans At San Diego Comic-Con, Chris Pratt And ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ Details To Come

San Diego Comic-Con has long been a favorite of science fiction, fantasy, and comic book lovers, and this year is definitely no exception. Benedict Cumberbatch, fresh from shooting Doctor Strange, reportedly visited with fans in the lineup for Hall H and posed for pictures during the wait, according to Movieweb.

Benedict Cumberbatch has been a hot commodity over the last several years, and news that he is taking on the role of Doctor Strange has led those familiar with the character and fans of Sherlock to begin the countdown for the release of Doctor Strange this November.

Certainly, Doctor Strange is set to boast big names alongside Benedict Cumberbatch; among those appearing in the movie are Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Tilda Swinton. Benedict Cumberbatch endeared himself to comic book fans in a huge way in April when he stopped into a comic store in costume as Doctor Strange.

Benedict Cumberbatch is set to appear at San Diego Comic-Con as it is with Sherlock, according to Screen Rant, but with Hall H set to showcase both Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, anticipation is high to see both Benedict Cumberbatch and Chris Pratt take the stage.

We Got This Covered also announced that there is a great deal of new art coming out around Doctor Strange. One of the most striking images is of a fiery Doctor Strange, holding some sort of shield and looking very intense. That’s not the only new artistic work coming out of SDCC, though; there are also action figures of Doctor Strange for fans to check out in anticipation.

It is hoped that in addition to Benedict Cumberbatch plugging Doctor Strange, Chris Pratt and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 cast will appear to be part of the panel at Hall H. Melty reports that James Gunn, who directed the original installment of Guardians of the Galaxy and is helming the sequel, said that Chris Pratt and the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 cast members will put in an appearance at the Hall H panel, and anticipation is high that there will also be a teaser trailer hitting the screens.

Guardians of the Galaxy certainly ranks highly with many fans of the comic book movie genre, with some comparisons to Star Wars as far as the potential for a sweeping story goes. With the possibility of a killer soundtrack to go along with Guardians of the Galaxy 2 — though it will definitely be hard to top the original — if James Gunn, Chris Pratt, and company bring the crowd a teaser trailer, there is sure to be a hall full of happy movie fans.

It’s believed that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will feature the search for Peter Quill’s (Chris Pratt) ultimate parentage, and some rumors about Kurt Russell filling that role have been floating around. Melty reports that Gunn has been teasing a promise of something cool at San Diego Comic-Con on Twitter.

Typically, trailers and other footage presented at San Diego Comic-Con is relatively raw, with many of the visual effects still needing to be finished, but that does not mean that fans are not hoping for a great surprise from Chris Pratt, James Gunn, and the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 cast. That said, the movie is not due out until May 2017, so the odds of seeing completed footage may not be great.

Between Benedict Cumberbatch visiting fans in the lineup for the Doctor Strange panel at San Diego Comic-Con and Chris Pratt probably putting in an appearance with James Gunn and the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 crew, it’s certain that fans will walk away extremely happy from the event.
