SDCC 2016: ‘Orphan Black’ Offers A Walk-On Role For A Fan, Plus Hilarious Bloopers Reel Of Season 4

San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing at the moment, and fans are reveling in the swell of new information about all their favorite television programs. BBC America released a teaser ahead of their Orphan Black panel today at Comic-Con, indicating some exciting news, and fans have been eagerly awaiting what that would be.

The Orphan Black Comic-Con farewell panel was held in Room 6BCF of the San Diego Convention Center. The line up included the cast members, Tatiana Maslany (who plays the adult female clones in Orphan Black), Jordan Gavaris (Felix), Kristian Bruun (Donnie Hendrix), and Kevin Hanchard (Detective Arthur Bell). Also in the Comic-Con panel were Orphan Black co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson. The panel was moderated by Comedy Bang! Bang! host Scott Aukerman. During this panel the exciting news was revealed: one lucky Clone Club member would get the chance to win a walk-on role in the final season of Orphan Black.

I’ll let that news sink in for just a moment.

That’s right, while fans recently had the news confirmed that Orphan Black would end after the upcoming Season 5, there is a silver lining in that dark cloud. However, the announcement during the panel did not go smoothly. After some technical problems (of which the clone, Krystal, was blamed), BBC America confirmed their announcement via Orphan Black‘s official Facebook page.

As yet, it has not been revealed how Clone Club members can enter to win this exciting prize, but it is expected all the details will hit Orphan Black‘s Facebook page sometime soon.

In other Orphan Black Comic-Con news, during the panel, a bloopers reel premiered. Now, if you thought it was confusing enough keeping current on all the clones Tatiana Maslany plays, don’t worry, Tatiana can get just as confused as the fans! The video below shows some fabulously funny bloopers from Season 4 of Orphan Black, including the following.

  • Tatiana being Cosima talking on the phone to someone, telling them they have to call Cosima
  • An errant fly that the production crew have to hunt down and eradicate
  • Alison not only singing to Donnie and messing it up, but a hilarious fluffing of lines that gets Donnie ad-libbing along to Tatiana’s mistake
  • Funny faces being made by all the clones

  • Cast dropping items or having the crew turn up in their scene unexpectedly
  • Jordan Gavaris being even more hilarious as Felix when he forgets Felix’s lines
  • Helena being her usual crazy self
  • Kira (Skyler Wexler) getting her “Vogue” on Madonna-style
  • Plus, so much more

Along with the hilarious side of Orphan Black, there were also serious things to be discussed during the Comic-Con panel, like what is in store after the show finishes. For Tatiana Maslany, Deadline reported she would like to “do more theater.” Besides that, she also has two upcoming features, Two Lovers And A Bear and Stronger. Two Lovers And A Bear is a tragic tale in which Tatiana plays a character who “brave[s] life in a town near the North Pole.” According to Deadline, this movie sounds a little similar to Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Revenant. Stronger will tell the story of the Boston Marathon bombing, and Tatiana Maslany will star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.

This year marks the 47th year that the San Diego Comic-Con has been held, making it the longest-running convention of its kind. San Diego Comic-Con runs from Thursday, July 21, to Sunday, July 24, at the San Diego Convention Center.
