US official were reportedly warned about the security threat in Benghazi, Libya three days before anti-American violence took the life of the American ambassador and three other US citizens.

CNN reported this development in the ongoing Middle East crisis:

“Three days before the deadly assault on the United States consulate in Libya, a local security official says he met with American diplomats in the city and warned them about deteriorating security.”

“Jamal Mabrouk, a member of the February 17th Brigade, told CNN that he and a battalion commander had a meeting about the economy and security. He said they told the diplomats that the security situation wasn’t good for international business.”

” ‘The situation is frightening, it scares us,’ Mabrouk said they told the U.S. officials. He did not say how they responded.”

“Mabrouk said it was not the first time he has warned foreigners about the worsening security situation in the face of the growing presence of armed jihadist groups in the Benghazi area.”

Both the London Independent and the Jerusalem Post have already reported that US officials in the Obama administration allegedly ignored warnings of impending violence in Cairo, Egypt and Benghazi.

Despite the violence, US Ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice told ABC News yesterday (see video clip below) that the “US is quite popular in Libya,” and insisted that the attacks weren’t planned in advance.

In response, Florida Congressman Allen West, a military combat veteran, said on FNC (see video clip below) that “When I listen to the US Ambassador Susan Rice today, several words came to mind: asinine, naive, inept, incompetent and borderline ignorant.”
