Christina Grimmie Autopsy Officially Rules Death A Homicide — ‘The Voice’ Singer Died From Gun Shots To Head And Chest

Christina Grimmie’s death has officially been ruled a homicide based on a completed autopsy report. According to E! Online, the former The Voice contestant died from wounds she sustained after she was shot in the head and chest.

The Christina Grimmie autopsy report also confirmed that Grimmie’s brother, who was there when his sister was killed, identified the body.

“In consideration of the circumstances surrounding the death, and after examination of the body, toxicology analysis, and review of the available medical records,” the autopsy stated. “It is my opinion that the death of Christina Grimmie, a 22-year-old white female witnessed to have been shot by another and subsequently transported to the hospital, is the result of a gunshot wounds of the head and chest. The manner of death is homicide.”

Christina Grimmie was shot at a meet and greet at one of her concerts in Orlando earlier this year. Besides being a finalist on Season 6 of The Voice, Grimmie was also a YouTube star who had built up a considerable following online. The gunman, Kevin Loibl, shot himself after her murdered Grimmie.

According to CNN, her murderer was a crazed fan who was obsessed with her. Loibl did not have a criminal record, but the police report revealed that he lived like a hermit, according to his parents. He also reportedly had such a great dislike of light that he covered all of his walls with aluminum foil and dark curtains.

The police report also states that police had to come to his home to resolve a domestic dispute between Loibl and his father’s girlfriend.

The two handguns Kevin Loibl used to murder Grimmie were bought legally, CNN reports. They were both Glock 9 mm handguns and Loibl collected the second one on June 7, three days before he killed Christina. The police report states that he checked into the hotel in Orlando without any luggage and paid $269 for the room.

“There was no luggage; no personal belongings visible and the bed looked as if he slept on top of the covers. In the trash it appeared he had purchased some food from the hotel snack bar and ate it in his room,” the report says.

According to CNN, friends of Kevin Loibl have said that he became obsessed with Christina Grimmie about six months to a year ago.

“He watched everything having to do with her,” said Cory Dennington who described himself as Loibl’s “only friend in the world.”

Dennington claimed that Christina Grimmie’s murderer spent most of his life watching her content on YouTube. There were even claims that he converted to Christianity as a result of Grimmie’s influence. He also lost 50 pounds in an apparent effort to make himself more attractive to her.

Christina Grimmie was buried last month after a funeral that was reportedly paid for by her Voice coach and Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine. At a short memorial attended by family and friends, Christina’s brother stood up and made a statement on behalf of his family, E! Online reports.

“I don’t have anything to say, I don’t have words still and it’s a good and bad thing. All I’m going to say is thank God for the mark that she left on this world. Thanks mom and dad I know it’s going to be really tough for us to move forward,” he said.

According to her brother, in her final moments of life, Christina Grimmie was smiling and greeted her murderer with open arms.

“All the rumors are true that when the gunman came… her arms were open. That’s how she treated everyone she knew, her arms were open for them. So thanks again for coming out you guys, and I love you Christina.”
