iPhone 7 Continues To Cause Criticism And Controversy For Apple

Apple will announce the iPhone 7 in early September, and this proves to be the most controversial iPhone launch in years. The most controversial aspect of the new iPhone has been the removal of the headphone jack, which will be replaced with another speaker and allow for a thinner device. BGR wrote an article about the controversy.

“According to a number of credible reports, Apple’s next-gen smartphone will ship without a traditional 3.5mm headphone jack. And while Apple isn’t shy about discarding popular technologies to the curb, the 3.5mm headphone jack has literally been around for more than 100 years and is as reliable and durable as it is universal.”

The article adds that many believe Apple is taking a huge risk, and it may not be the right kind of risk. However, there is hope for those angry about the missing headphone jack.

“Now for anyone worried about their beloved 3.5mm headphone jack completely disappearing, there’s hope on the horizon. According to a new research note from Deutsche Bank, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 7 will ship with a Lighting to 3.5mm dongle, thereby making the transition much more seamless,” says columnist Yoni Heisler.

Still, there are many in the comments section who are not happy.

“What really gets me is the reason they are getting rid of it: Because of the ‘need’ to make it thinner,” claims Joey13.

“It is so sad that we need a dongle in the first place. I am done with Apple and I am buying a Note 5,” says CheaplyMadeLAGalaxy.

The removal of the headphone jack isn’t the only controversy facing the new iPhone. Last month, Mashable, a site that usually praises Apple, published an article titled, “The iPhone 7 sounds like it will be totally boring.”

“When Apple CEO Tim Cook gets on stage this fall and talks about all the great things people are doing with their iPhones and then hands it off to senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller to tell us all about the innovations of the iPhone 7, I’ll be tweeting and snickering about how they should tell us something we didn’t already know,” complained author Raymond Wong, who added that Apple has switched to a new design every three years instead of every two.

Apple, who was once leading the industry, is facing a lot of competition from Samsung. The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have been huge hits and have topped Apple’s iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in worldwide sales. To make things worse for Apple (but perhaps better for consumers), Samsung is getting ready to release the Galaxy Note 7, which — according to most sources — will be one killer smartphone.

Tech Times describes a new video that has leaked of the Galaxy Note 7.

“The Note 7 was most recently caught on camera, and the video showed the smartphone running very quickly, with no lag. This is believed to have a lot to do with the reported 4 GB of RAM inside and a new video confirms that feature, showing Samsung’s updated version of TouchWiz, which has a new Grace UX interface.”

The Note 7 is expected to have a 5.7-inch Quad HD resolution display, as well as enhanced S-Pen note-taking capabilities. Samsung’s latest device should arrive about a month before the iPhone 7.
