‘Paranormal Lockdown’ Shares Some Exciting News With Fans At Comic-Con

Paranormal Lockdown posted to their Facebook page that co-hosts Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman are at Comic-Con International in San Diego and teased that there would be a special announcement regarding the popular series on July 22. So what exactly was the big news that was announced exclusively at Comic-Con?

Paranormal Lockdown fans are in for a real treat and will be thrilled to know that there will be a two-hour Paranormal Lockdown Halloween special. This Paranormal Lockdown special television event will follow paranormal experts Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman as they investigate the Black Monk House in Yorkshire, England.

The home, located in the town of Pontefract, is well known among the paranormal community as having some of the most violent poltergeist activity ever reported. According to the website Ghost Story, research uncovered evidence that a 16th-century monk, who was hung for the rape and murder of a girl during the reign of Henry VIII, is most likely responsible for the supernatural occurrences.

The dark, black-robed apparition then became known as the Black Monk of Pontefract. The events that were experienced, particularly by the Pritchard family in the Black Monk House, were recreated in director Pat Holden’s 2012 horror film When the Lights Went Out. Jean Pritchard was Holden’s aunt, and he actually witnessed many of the incidents himself.

Paranormal Lockdown co-hosts Groff and Weidman will be on lockdown in the home for what is being called the longest paranormal investigation on television. During their investigation, they hope to capture some of the most convincing evidence ever by using a myriad of devices that can detect ghostly activity. Paranormal researcher and demonologist John Zaffis (Haunted Collector) will provide analysis for Paranormal Lockdown of any evidence that is uncovered.

“The Black Monk House is an absolutely terrifying location that, as we’re hearing from the cast and crew, is already haunting the production team as they prepare to begin filming on location,” said Jane Latman, the general manager of Destination America. “Marking Destination America’s first ghost hunt abroad, the special is an exciting milestone in our quest to present paranormal fans with the scariest supernatural stories known to man.”

The Black Monk House is uninhabited and continues to be one of the most challenging (and frightening) investigations to conduct. No one has been able to stay longer than two days in the eerie Black Monk House, and it will be interesting to see if the Paranormal Lockdown team manages to be the first. Over the last 50 years, there have been many reports of unexplained demonic sounds, objects levitating, people being physically attacked, and much more.

According to Horror News Network, there was an account of a family being forced to actually flee from the home after a little girl was reportedly dragged up a flight of stairs by unseen hands.

There are a few theories as to why the home is so haunted. Spirits in the home have been traced back to an ancient burial ground and a gallows was once located nearby. With all the reports of extreme paranormal activity, this will definitely be no walk in the park for the Paranormal Lockdown duo.

“There are few locations in the world that frighten me to investigate, and the Black Monk House has a strong energy pull like nothing else I’ve ever researched,” said Nick Groff, the executive producer and co-host of Paranormal Lockdown. “The history of the land holds a massive amount of bloodshed, and the house has a heart still pumping the negative forces continuing to harm the living.”

The Paranormal Lockdown special is produced by Groff Entertainment, with Nick Groff and Justin Narragon serving as executive producers. For Destination America, the Paranormal Lockdown executive producer is Fay Yu, with Jane Latman serving as general manager, and Henry Schleiff is the group president of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel, and Destination America.
