WWE News: Is Brock Lesnar Getting Suspended By WWE For Drug Test Failure?
After Brock Lesnar’s UFC 200 fight, nobody could’ve guessed it was what happened after the fight that had the WWE Universe and UFC world talking. Just a few weeks after the fight, Lesnar was nailed with a potential failure of the USADA anti-drug policy. After that notice, rumors flew around the WWE Universe about it only being due to an asthma inhaler. Immediately, fans were skeptical because that isn’t illegal to take.
Asthma is a condition that needs to be treated, especially if it could be serious enough to monitor regularly. So, that wasn’t a problem for the first notice of a failure. It was the second one that had everyone talking. Brock Lesnar was told he failed another drug test, but it was rumored to be the same drug Jon Jones used that got him pulled from his UFC 200 main event title fight. For those that don’t follow fighting, the former-WWE champion is rumored to have taken performance enhancing drugs.
Rest assured WWE fans, as of right now, Brock Lesnar will not miss SummerSlam, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest installment of Wrestling Observer Radio and Daily Wrestling News.
“We noted before via LA Times writer Lance Pugmire that Lesnar reportedly tested positive for estrogen blocker Clomiphene, which is common among bodybuilders looking to increase testosterone while cycling off steroids. The substance should be confirmed soon as the USADA will have to hold a hearing.
“While WWE will not be suspending Lesnar, his drug test failures did change plans as he was scheduled to be the #1 draft pick this past Tuesday night but ended up being drafted to RAW at #8.”
In an earlier report by the Inquisitr, Lesnar was supposed to go in the top four picks. However, the drug test and bad publicity surround his name clearly changed that. Lesnar’s situation is very rare and one the WWE hasn’t really encountered before. A WWE contracted wrestler hasn’t failed any drug test in another organized league before. So, it’s not surprising they don’t know how to handle this properly. With all the recent events happening, they’ve handled it quite well.
Their public relations team sent out a statement immediately that just said his next appearance on WWE television is at the SummerSlam pay-per-view. They didn’t state he was going to be suspended or miss any appearances, which was a very smart move. In an article by Wrestling Inc, they found specifics in the WWE Policies handbook that state why Lesnar can’t be suspended.
“This Policy… is applicable to and binding upon all WWE Talent under contract to WWE who regularly perform in-ring services as a professional sports entertainer (‘WWE Talent’).”
The Beast Incarnate is not a regular performer in the WWE. Therefore, he should be exempt from the rule. Let’s say the Undertaker, Triple H, Shane McMahon or the Rock were all drug tested and then all failed. Are they really subject to the same rule the regular wrestlers are? It’s kind of like a catch 22, but instead, Lesnar will get away with it.
WWE fans can’t get angry over this either. The company just got sued by over 50 wrestlers that are complaining about head injuries they endured throughout their time in the company. Does the WWE need more negative press? Brock Lesnar will only endure the criticism from UFC fans and officials. His wrestling credibility hasn’t changed a bit.
