Indianapolis, IN – Andrew Luck claimed his first NFL victory on Sunday when he led the Indianapolis Colts to a 23-20 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

The victory was fitting as it was Andrew Luck’s first home game of the NFL regular season. Throwing two touchdown passes, Luck marched the Colts 45 yards to setup Adam Vinatieri for a 53-yard field goal with 8 seconds remaining on the click.

After the game, Colts coach Chuck Pagano said:

“It’s just amazing that the guy’s able to go out there and do the things he does as a rookie. He certainly had to put the ball on them, and he did.”

While comparing Andrew Luck to a young Peyton Manning might take a while, Colts fans should be reminded that Peyton Manning started his career with an 0-4 record.

Ensuring the victory was Andrew Luck’s 20 of 31 performance for 224 yards, a rather average day that was helped along by the Colts defensive side. Yet Luck capped off the game without three starters on the offensive line.

Andrew Luck played much of the game on the move, eluding pass rushers while hitting his targets like a veteran. After the game the Vikings’ Jared Allen noted:

 ”We were rushing him. He moved around a lot. It (stinks), missing sacks. He did a good job. If the guy is not as mobile, we probably have six sacks.”

Luck was far from perfect during his performance; at one point he spiked the ball when the clock was already stopped just as Vinatieri was about to attempt a field goal.

After the game, Luck said of his performance:

 ”I guess some people were under the impression that the clock was going to run, so I guess we looked a little foolish killing the clock when it was already stopped.” Luck then brushed it off with a simple “oh well.”

On the other side of the ball, quarterback Christian Ponder was 27 of 35 for 245 yards with two TDs. Ponder was also put under a lot of pressure and was sacked by the Colts defense four times.

The win was a definite improvement over Luck’s debut in which the Indianapolis Colts loss 41-21.
