WWE News: Bayley Reveals Future WWE Main Roster Aspirations on Talk is Jericho—‘The Time is Coming’

On Friday, NXT superstar Bayley was Chris Jericho’s surprise guest on his podcast, Talk is Jericho. Bayley started out as a rookie in NXT, and through the years she worked her way to the top of the roster. Her journey has inspired fans worldwide; she truly has become an inspiration to the WWE and NXT universe.

It was nearly one year ago when Bayley defeated Sasha Banks at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn to become the NXT women’s champion. Their match left audiences in awe worldwide. The NXT universe voted it Best Match of the Year, and many feel it was one of the best in NXT history. The celebration in the ring afterwards was a moment that fans wouldn’t soon forget. Becky Lynch and Charlotte came down to celebrate with Bayley, and the four superstars embraced in the ring in an emotional celebration. Bayley’s mom was at ringside, and just like the audience that evening, she was overwhelmed with emotion.

During the interview on Talk is Jericho, Bayley explained her background with Sasha and how they wrestled several times and have great chemistry in the ring together. She would go on to discuss how she felt that historic night Brooklyn.

“There were so many people, and so much pressure and I knew what the match meant. But I felt comfortable because I was with her [Banks] and knew we both wanted the same out of this…everything felt perfect.”

She also revealed that she broke her hand a month before their match. Bayley performing at such a high level with a broken hand, and winning the NXT Women’s Championship, truly shows her dedication as an athlete and to the sport she loves so dearly.

Bayley has had incredible matches with star athletes including Becky Lynch, Charlotte, Paige, and her match with Asuka was nothing short of amazing. Because of her in-ring success, paired with her ability to connect with the audience, many fans are disappointed that Bayley has not yet been moved to the WWE main roster. Jericho may appease some of those fans as he confidently stated during the interview, “Obviously it’s going to come very quickly, you know, the time is coming.” He then asked her what she needed to do take the character of Bayley to the next level.

“I think about that a lot. If I had it my way, I’d prefer to kind of start out the same way I did at NXT, where I was kind of laying low. I don’t want to be thrown in the championship mix right away, I kind of like growing in front of the fans. I think that’s why it was such a huge deal why I won the title, because they’ve seen me at the very bottom. I don’t want to be thrown in the picture and get lost, or for it to be like—I’m this huge deal already—because I have to reintroduce myself. That’s what I hope to do, is just grow in front of the larger audience. But I hope it all works out the same way, I hope I don’t have to change much…”

The NXT and WWE universe may feel a bit of relief now with Bayley and Jericho also discussed the wacky-wavy inflatable tube-man, her side ponytail, and they provided wise insight into the business of professional wrestling. As the duo conversed, the genuine personalities of both Bayley and Jericho could be felt and the conversation was refreshing. As the interview concluded, Chris summed up this episode of Talk is Jericho perfectly.
