Justin Bieber Says He’s Been Asked To Star In ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’

Is Justin Bieber preparing to enter the world of “mommy porn?” According to NME, Bieber has been approached to star in the cinematic adaptation of author E.L. James’ runaway hit Fifty Shades of Grey. Before steam begins pouring from your ears, it’s worth noting that this is probably nothing more than a weird joke perpetrated by the “Boyfriend” singer himself. One would hope so, anyway.

During an interview with Jonathan Ross, Bieber said that he’d actually been approached to portray the darkly erotic Christian Grey. “They actually want me to be in the movie!” he said. “No, really!”

If these rumors turn out to be true, then Bieber will join Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Gosling, Alexander Skarsgard, Matt Bomer, and Henry Cavill as possible candidates for the role. Again, this sounds like some sort of stunt, so I wouldn’t bank on this actually happening.

Casting rumors surrounding Fifty Shades of Grey have been all over the place as of late, much to the dismay of the book’s author. At one point, Harry Potter co-star Emma Watson was rumored to be tackling the role of Anastasia Steele, though the actress herself was quick to shoot down internet speculation. Just recently, Ryan Gosling was linked to the role of Christian Grey, though E.L. James has stated that these rumors were simply untrue.

According to Gather, Justin Bieber’s main squeeze Selena Gomez is rumored to be in the running for the Steele role, though this, too, is probably nothing more than baseless speculation. However, Gomez did sign on for controversial director Harmony Korine’s dark comedy Spring Breakers, which also stars James Franco, Ashley Benson, and Vanessa Hudgens. Her desire to branch out as an actress could mean she’s ready to tackle something a bit more daring.

Do you believe the rumors that Justin Bieber could be in the running to star as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey? Do you think he’s the right choice for the role?
