Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ Season 3: Bullseye Is The New Villain?

Netflix’s Daredevil Season 3 has no official premiere date. Featuring Charlie Cox in the lead role of Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, the show has gained immense popularity for its dark content and astounding action sequences. The first season showed Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, as the main villain. Season 2, on the other hand, featured Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, and Élodie Yung as Elektra fighting the rising crime in Hell’s Kitchen. So, which character is Season 3 going to feature?

Well, there is no official confirmation from Marvel, but the series’ lead wants one of deadliest character to be featured in the upcoming season.

During his recent telephone conversation with Screen Rant, Cox stated that Bullseye is one of the most important characters in the comic book, and if it is up to him, he will surely bring him as an antagonist.

“If we are fortunate enough to continue making the Daredevil series, I can’t imagine doing a run of Daredevil where Bullseye doesn’t show up at some point. Who would play that part I have no idea but I just think there’s such an interesting, rich character there, and also, of course, the history that Bullseye has with Karen Page is an interesting dynamic.”

Marvel’s Bullseye is a psychopathic assassin who uses the opportunities provided by his life of work to release his homicidal tendencies. Unlike other supervillains created by Marvel, Bullseye does not possess any superpowers, but he is able to use almost any object as a lethal projectile, be it small needles, shuriken, or harmless objects like playing cards.

In the Daredevil live-action film, the antagonizing character was portrayed by Colin Farrell, and if Cox’s statements are to be believed, then Netflix will indeed be needing a perfect actor like Farrell to portray the role.

Meanwhile, there has been speculation that Netflix will cancel Daredevil, as it wants the focus of viewers to shift to The Defenders. Even Cox is unaware of the show’s future.

Earlier this year, Netflix hosted a two-day event in Paris. The event made it possible for fans of House of Cards, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and Daredevil to interact with the cast and crew. According to Independent, when a delegate asked Cox about Season 3, the Stardust actor claimed that he has absolutely no idea about the show.

“We don’t know if there’s going to be a season three, I certainly don’t know.”

However, the 33-year-old did talk about The Defenders. Cox stated that the upcoming superhero series is going to feature Luke Cage (Mike Cage), Iron Fist (Finn Jones), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and himself portraying the role of Murdock.

“Very excited to see how those worlds combine… and interested to see totally how those shows become one.”

Screen Geek has their own theory as why Netflix is delaying in revealing any updates for Daredevil. According to the publication, Netflix wants fans to stay talking about The Defenders. Furthermore, the online media outlet leaked some information as in who is going to be the main villain in the upcoming mini-series.

“Marvel is talking about setting Mephisto as the prime antagonist for The Defenders. Some may say that this villain wouldn’t fit the TV shows but that’s why they’re incorporating Iron Fist to set up the supernatural element.”

Netflix is yet to announce an official air date for Daredevil Season 3. There is no update from Marvel on whether they are going to bring Bullseye as the main villain this time, but it would be interesting to see Charlie Cox’s character fighting a supervillain who has never missed a shot in his entire life.
